Done in the format of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" with Jeremy Brett, with Flemings novels being adapted and being faithful to his bond, and set in the cold war as well.

I was thinking about this same thing a little bit back. I think ideally it would be a mini-series for BBC(or I guess HBO overhere). I also had Ralph Fiennes in mind for the role of Bond, he's stated that he would like to do Fleming-faithful, period pieces in the past(which is what this would be). My plan for the series would look somewhat like this...

Episode 1. Casino Royale
Episode 2. Live and Let Die
Episode 3. Moonraker
Episode 4. Diamonds Are Forever
Episode 5. Octopussy/ The Hildebrand Rarity
Episode 6. The Spy Who Loved Me
Episode 7. From a View to a Kill/ Quantum of Solace
Episode 8. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Episode 9. You Only Live Twice

All would be entirely faithful and period pieces. Some(FRwL, DN, GF, TB and a few of the short stories) I left out because I felt that the EON versions were successful in capturing the essence of Fleming in those films and there was no other way to do them. I also left TMwtGG out because I felt that the series should end with the downbeat ending of YOLT.

Of course EON would never have this though :P

I dont even think they can do thunderball.

but, i'd adapt all the fleming stories

i think it'd be a terrible idea... before you get through a single season, you'll be out of Fleming stories and working on some of hte other novels... by the time you finish the 2nd season, there won't be any material left, and you'll have to start making up your own stories, none of which, we know, will ever compare to the originals... plus i strongly doubt that half an hour, or even a full hour, would allow enough time to seriously cover hardly any of the stories... not in today's world... even an hour long slot will only allow 40 minutes of actual programming... there's no way!

IMO, the day we see a serious James Bond TV show is the day we know the franchise has been sapped for everything it was ever worth... time to give it up and move on!

uh...trying reading the thread again. No one wants an ongoing series. We just want all of flemings stories adapted.

And if they dont have enough time, then make them 2 or 3 parters. its not hard, really.

But James Bond isn't a tv series. He's an event! He is a spectacle you eagerly await every 3 or 4 years. A tv series couldn't do Bond justice, regardless of how faithfully they adapted Fleming's novels.

I would watch it, but we've had 40 years, 20 films and 5 actors worth of memories. No tv show will be able to duplicate the sensation you get from watching Bond on the bigscreen in all his glory....

Most die hard fans dont even like the current flicks. Feming fans should get something completely faithful to the original vision.

And the original vision was some event or overhyped specticle. They were just damn good spy stories and thrillers....which is....gasp...perfect for TV.

I really don't want to see a Bond TV show. Keep 007 in the theatres.
