Just wanted to start a little discussion and was interested in people's opinions.

What makes Batman, "Batman", even if he used guns and killed? How would he be different than the Punisher?

He'd still be a detective instead of Mad Max in my opinion, but discuss.

He's Batman, not to be a smartass, because he dresses up like a bat, swings down from the rooftops, and scares criminals half to death before taking them down. Because he's the detective, scientist, and lifelong devotee to training his body and mind to perfection. He's the guy that swore at his parent's grave to rid the world of criminals. Except for the bit about dead loved ones, he really doesn't have all that much in common with the Punisher.

Maybe it's just that Miller's All Star Batman is finally getting to me. Yeah, he doesn't use guns, but he's even more crazy that the Punisher.

I guess I'm looking for some reconfirmation, so even if Batman killed or used guns, he's still be unique among the costumed vigilantes.

The Punisher chooses to be who he is and to do what he does, Batman however is so driving and pretty much has no choice, he couldnt give up being Batman.

batman would be forced to do things such as brake people legs and inflict pain if he were real. he would beat the **** outta them

I'd see a loooooooooooot of questions cropping up in that case. Hell, look at those four films they made a few years ago. Right at the start of the first of them, in the factory when he dropped the soon-to-be Joker into that vat of acid, Commisioner Gordon was trying to arrest him. And how long, really, could he keep up the charade? I mean, really...it wouldn't take the FBI long to figure out that it was someone rich dressing up as a bat and fighting crime. Then the trail would eventually lead to Mr. Wayne. "Why are you spending so much money, Mr. Wayne? What about these purchases here?" And there are numerous entrances to the Bat-Cave, I'm sure. How could there be just one in the whole place? I mean, they'd HAVE to have a back-up somewhere. Eventually, they'd find him out.

But yeah. Back on topic here...

I don't think he would be much different than the Punisher. The only difference is that he'd be more the sniper type instead of the guns-blazing type. He cloaks himself in shadows, after all, staying hidden until it's time to make his appearance. His costume would be his cover as always, but he'd be more like an assassin than anything else: discover and locate his target, and then eliminate them. Everything else would just be second...
