Didn't any of you guys find it disturbing that Lois was with Richard White all these and lied to him who the dad really was?

Did it occur that maybe she didn't know until Jason pushed the Piano?

I think they both knew all along.... there was something about that final scene in the car.

What I found more disturbing was when she told him that she didn't love Superman before he left. I think the point of the scene was to make us feel bad for Supes, but my reaction was: what a lying ****e. Regardless of whether she "loves" Richard or not, you don't lie about that to someone who's feelings you respect. Also, I don't understand why Richard thinks he's the father - it's not like he got the mind erasing kiss.

Let's see. They slept together in Superman II. How long after did she have to find a guy, sleep with him, and do it in a time frame so the guy could beleive that it was his son. ****.

leave him for dead? after he just saved me from the bottom of the ocean? i think not.

We don't use the term **** anymore...we use the term 'Modern Woman'

Chicks do it all the time. White was the backup guy who plays father to a child that isn't his - pays for his expenses, raises him, etc. IMO the whole richard storyline modernized superman. On a side note - make sure you get paternity tests unless you trust your woman 100%.

Did it ever occur to you that Richard did know the kid was not his biological son but didnt care?

Richard knows Sups is Jason's father .

If I was Richard White, I would have left Superman for dead.

And then Lois Lane would hate you for the rest of your life. I just get the feeling Richard is just going to step aside in the sequel . He knows Lois loves Superman more than she loves him, He knows Jason is his son, And he knows Clark Kent has feelings for Lois Lane.

Yes. Because a woman having more than one relationship makes her a ****.

When did she tell Richard that he was the kids father? There's nothing in the movie to indicate Richard thought he was the father, only that he and the kid were close enough that the kid felt comfortable calling him Daddy.

I'm pretty sure both she and Richard thought Richard was the father.

People seem to assume that, sure. But it's never actually said.
And the ready made family is just a fact of life in this day and age. Completely common for a man to step into a mom/child relationship and become Father in name, if not genetics.
It eliminates a lotta the 'Lois is a ****e' nonsense.

In the novel she had Jason, long before she met Richard. She raised Jason on her own .

Also they never said she had sex with Richard . So you don't even know .

The impression I got was that they both thought Jason was their kid. I mean if they didn't, wouldn't Lois be a little freaked out if she had a kid out of nowhere with no father? Unless she slept around a lot. I'm pretty sure Superboy came as a complete shock to the system. Now just wait till Richard figures it out. :D

Marsden did a great job by the way. Now I totally forgive him for skipping X3. I don't think they'd give him even close to as much screen time.:) Kudos to him.

It also seemed like the fact that Supes was banging Lois was pretty common knowledge.
"I've done Superman."
And the fact that she was allowed into his hospital room.
So she may have know Supes was the father, but just like when she told Luthor Richard was the father, lied to protect her son from being targeted.

In prequel comic #4, does Lois meet Richard before Jason is born or after?

I think they both knew that Superman was the father all along but since he was gone, Richard pretty much adopted Jason since he was Lois' boyfriend.

That scene in the car at the end with all 3 of them gave me that impression.

He didnt skip X3 at all
Well for lack of a better term...The man had 2 scenes. It was this close to a cameo.

No, she didn't mean she did him literally. Jimmy snickered cause it sounded funny...Is everybody forgetting the "Amnesia kiss"?

And since this bears mentioning - James Marsten was more heroic in Superman Returns than he was a s Cyclops in X-Men, X2 and X3 put together! He never woulda left Supes for dead.

I know they were laying the Christ allegory on thick. But I find it hard to believe that Lois and Richard thought Jason was born of immaculate conception. Either the memory erasing kiss, means Richard thinks he's the father, or they all know that Superman is Jason's father. In which case, it would be weird that no one mentions that Jason's biological father has returned after 5 years.

I don't think that Richard thought he was the biological father once. I think he thought he was an adopted father. I don't think the father really came into question with them...he just loved the kid regardless, cause he's a good guy. Lois, probably, in her rage from Superman leaving, made a lie about the biological father to Richard anyway.

I think it works out quite well. Richard is a great dad. Much like Jonathan Kent, an adopted father. And Kal-El will watch over Jason, but not intervine too much, as Jor-El watched over Kal-El. This way, Jason isn't "in the way", and his character has relavence.

Or....Brainiac could kill him.
