If marvel did an alternate Real-Time universe how would you want it done?

How would you like Marvel to do real-time if they ever attempted it?

  • Restart. New universe starting from scratch. Progressing in real time.

  • Legacy. Modern day but with real-time influenced rich history.

  • Don`t Care.

  • Another Option.

If Marvel one day did a real-time alternate universe, a whole seperate branch like Ultimates how would you like it done?

1) Restart.

Like Ultimates you start from day one and having adventures of a young spidey and recently formed avengers with the characters growing older every year.

2) Legacy.

You have it set in the modern day but with a portion of the history of marvel intact ie you have a retired approaching 60 year old Peter Parker watching his twenty year old son heading out as the new spider-man. The stories from that point on would also be in real time so the son would age year by year in real time and eventually retire.

This could be backed up by a series of one-shots showing how spideys life progressed and shpowing the key events in real time. They could even be done to look like the original issue they were based on but with spidey and the other characters the correct age. So you would have a spiderman in his 50s unmasking in civil war or a spidey in his early forties during the black symbiont/venom arc. Obviously the inclusion of real-time would alter events somewhat too. Vulture would have died long ago and other villains could have turned up being the children of 60s/70s villains.

Wouldn't this just be another Ultimate Universe type series.

I wouldn't see it lasting since Marvel already has its Ultimate cash cow.

Thats why i`d prob only go with option a if the ultimates disappears in a couple of years.

If not i`d go with option b. Its kinda like genext or spidergirl but the back issue one-shots could make it far more entertaining. Seeing a real-time X-men #1 (1991 series) where the original five x-men retire from active membership to stay on as tutors and the new mutants (Cannonball, wolfsbane, sunspot etc) actually become frontline x-men members.

I like the idea of real-time. How long has the Ultimate Universe been going, and Spider-Man is still in his first year? That is a lot of stuff to happen within a year.

I don't think they have officially stated it in the comics, but they mentioned his birthday during the clone wars arc, and Bendis stated that his birthday would mark the start to the second year.

So I'm assuming that means Peter is in his second year of heroing.

I'm pretty sure Bendis also said Peter will never leave High School.

I would pass on the real time Marvel stories. I'm not interested in 50 year old Peter Parker. I liked Spider-Man: Reign, but not something I want on a regular basis. The characters SHOULD change and grow but very, very slowly. and not in real time.

I want to read Peter Parker. I've invested almost 20 years into him! He's the character I enjoy. I don't want Ben Reilly, Mayday Parker or this imaginary 20 something son. Just good Peter Parker Spider-Man stories. Ideally, in a universe where he and MJ are still married. Oh well, one day....

I was trying to figure this out one day,
Spider-Man was 15 years old when he was bitten by the spider, if he aged in real time he would now be 59.
Norman Osborne first appeared in 1964 at the age of, let’s say, 40. Which means he was born in 1924, which means by now he would be 82.
The Vulture might be dead, he appeared in 1963 at the age of, maybe 60, (most likely was born in 1903) by now he would be maybe 103.

I would love to figure out all this for Captain America, the Avengers, X-Men, Daredevil and so on. Maybe I will, and get back to you on that.
Steve Rogers, Wolverine, characters like these two wouldn't look the age the actually are however.

My idea for Marvel Comics in Real Time Universe would be to have it all start (the comic) right now, but all the events started back then.
So Peter Parker is about 59 now, but he became Spider-Man when he was 15.
We just pick up now, and maybe look back and get caught up.
Otherwise its just starting the comic over again, and having them age correctly would takes years.

This is an idea I would love to see.

Nuke me with the new!

That is, you know, "if" they ever attempted a real-time, real-world comic.
