If the Transformers is a huge sucess...

You guys are taking this transformers movie way to freakin seriously. It's a story about cars that turn into robots and fight each other. What do you expect.
yeah 'cause you're too cool for kid stuff?

I don't expect to enjoy this movie but I'd still like to see a justice League movie and a Green Lantern movie.

I just want a Masters of the Universe movie that doesn't suck.

Hopefully transformers will crash and burn and make even less money than the animated film. This franchise has been butchered to death already. Either do it justice or let it rest in peace.

If the transformers are a success, G.I. Joe might be a good option to try next. Personally, I'd go for the Micronauts. They were a very popular toy line in the 70's and 80's and spawned a successful comic book.

I think they wanted to do a G.I. Joe movie initially, but passed on the idea because of the "War on Terror." I don't think they'd revisit the idea just yet.

It looks like it´s going to be big, and if it is you sure can expect GI Joe and He-Man movies. But don´t forget that these movies are not simply based on toys per se. These toys are usually followed with cartoons and comic books, which is where they´re likely to take a lot of the scripts from. Problem is they´re usually crap. I watched Transformers as a kid, but don´t tell me it was some kind of masterpiece.

Thundercats

Hugo Weaving or Willem Defoe for Mumm-Ra with Guillermo Del Toro directing..

Amen.

I know Transformers will make serious money,I mean come on, its transformers. People from the ages of about 18 to 48 will go see this movie, purely for religiously-fanatical reasons. This in turn may push for studios to develop films based on 80s cult classics and to more imporatnly, ake them seriously. A thundercats movie would be awesome too, heads will definately go nuts for it.

On another note I just bought thw classic transformers movie for £1.97 at TESCO brand new, I'll be watching that tonight.

Very true. You make a good point on G.I. Joe. I'd love to see it, but because of the nature of things right now, it might not come to fruition for some time.

That's one of the reasons I'd propose the Micronauts. If done correctly, it could be very epic in nature, and has a lot of various symbolism, and action. It could really appeal to many people.

I'm suprised they never made a GI-Joe movie already. It's the most timely of concepts.....Cobra can represent the modern terrorists war. They're real life heroes, with no special powers. Its easy to translate I think.

But maybe it's too..."American"..to be a hit worldwide? I don't know

I think it's because the idea came along to late, what with the "War on Terror not being as popular as it once was.

The only way G.I. Joe could work now if in fact the war on terror thing is the issue, is if it's done in a more fantasy sci-fi type way.

Transformers might be a moneymaker, but I don't see it being huge, considering how many G1 puris- er, sorry, FANS have already cast it off just based on a couple concept drawings. But given the urchin factor Hasbro has pandered to the last couple years, I'll be surprised if it doesn't at least break even.

I already knew G.I. Joe and Micronauts were in the works, too...I think in the right hands Micronauts could be one of the best popcorn sci-fi flicks to come down the pike in ages. They already got two different sets of lore to work from, the Marvel comic and the Devil's Due comic. And plus the property has never had the Hasbro marketing juggernaut behind it, so its connection to a toy line probably won't stand out quite as much.

I'd be happy with a big budget animated movie. I really think Transformers is going to suck. I mean, when you have the most overrated, cocky, mindless filmmaker like Bay behind something like that, there is little hope. He can't even do a war movie faithfully.
