If They Recast or Replace?

Do you have any interest in a recast?

I would like RDJ, Evans, and company to stay in the role as long as it is possible, but recognize that it is impossible for them to do so forever. Whether because they are too old, or they simply no longer are willing to do these films. At that point, yes, recast. These characters are bigger than the actors that are portraying them. Characters and story will always be more important than 'continuity.'

Agreed. :D

Relying on carbon copies would be hiring a thirty something (or forty something) actor to follow RDJ's Tony Stark. After eight or nine performances, I would prefer a change in direction. I'm fine with new characters, but I'd also like to see some legacy characters sprinkled in.

Well, I don't. The legacy characters would most likely be looked upon by the general audience as cheap imitations of the originals. There is also the questions as to how big the Avengers lineup can be without compromising the storyline. Just counting the heroes in phase 2 and phase 3, Marvel has enough heroes for an Avengers lineup. Then there's the original six heroes. Which heroes will Marvel continue on with and which ones will they leave behind? There is simply no need for legacy heroes at this point.

Yes to Kate. No to Sharon.

Believe it or not, I was actually joking. The day Marvel makes Kate Bishop an Avenger is the day they've ran out of ideas and really scraping the bottom of the barrel. We're not anywhere close to that point yet.

I actually find the idea of a mentally unbalanced Captain America to be pretty exciting. And while comic book America doesn't need a shield, we haven't met her onscreen counterpart. And Ms. America is most certainly a legacy character, following in the footsteps of Timely era Madeline Joyce Frank.[/QUOTE]

If marvel made a Ms. America movie, it would be Ms. America Chavez, and as a result would not be a legacy character as far as the movies are concerned.
Chavez is a flying brick who kicks(not punches) wholes in other dimensions. She has no use for a shield. Why demote her by making her Ms. Captain America.

The way I see it, legacy characters can work, but only if it makes sense in-universe. Cap is a symbol, so someone becoming Cap for a while isn't strange. Iron Man and Thor would be harder to replace. In most of these cases it might be better to have the void filled with characters that have certain similar aspects. If Tony is gone, we might still have Rhodey, Pym, T'Challa and Strange. Their combined presence will mean that most of the things Iron Man brought to the Avengers in terms of skills, resources and personality are still there in some capacity. You could, before Thor is gone, introduce Beta Ray Bill and have him turn up in cosmic movies later. And instead of having someone else pick up the hammer you could have another Asgardian like Valkyrie instead (or Angela I guess, but I'm not a fan of her), and when Thor is gone long enough, maybe introduce Hercules as the strong mythological hero (and maybe add Amadeus Cho to his movie, to make it different from all the other Hollywood movies about Hercules). America Chavez could also be that to Cap. She's not the new Cap, but has a similar theme.

I actually think it would be great to have a Hawkeye movie where Clint ends up training Kate, and then after Renner leaves have Kate take over.

The reason I say that is because Renner has shown how well he can play the fatherly/mentor role, and it's actually something I really like about his portrayal. It's not for nothing #daddyhawk was trending and we got lots of art like this:

Kate Bishop in a movie couldn't possibly have less narrative potential than what they've already done with MCU Clint Barton. I doubt very many people would be upset to see him go away and have someone else take on the role.

Him as a mentor figure would actually be interesting since Marvel screwed the pooch as far as making him a lead is concerned.

well it's marvel...yet not our beloved mcu...but here is a casting choice for wolverine:

Oooooooh. I always thought he'd be better for Bruce. Never seen him outside Big Bang Theory. Its strange. Now that I look at it. He does look like Wolvie. But theres the issue of his voice.

well his voice on BBT is artificially high-pitched and nerdy
watch some old Roseanne episodes to see how he usually talks

that said, that is a preposterous casting idea... and I kinda love it

I see, well I'm certainly on board with that when Wolverine gets recasted. Hoepfully when recasts come the new actors can maintain the level of acting Marvel has cast so far. Then again they've never cast a bad actor...not for a major character at least

It occurs to me if they recast they can simply soft reboot a specific heroes timeline instead of having to explain why they're younger in film. Now you may be asking Ernest what do you man by soft reboot? Let's say RDJ since everyone is expecting him to go first(in terms of recasting).

If they recast just have it so all the event's in the past IM films still happened but it didn't take as long for all of that to happen thus Tony isn't that old.
