The hype is a very very wild place, if we ever get perma banned is there anyplace where were can ask for another chance or something like that? Like a moderator's email for example.

I don't know, but I will say the ban usually IS the second chance. With infractions it's the 10th chance. People only get banned outright on the first offense if they do something really messed up like post hate-speech, porn, viruses, etc.

I thought I heard one poster did get unbanned after an appeal to a moderator, but that was a long time ago and I'm not sure about the details. Or even if I'm remembering that correctly.

Lord, you wouldn't be on my short-list of posters likely to get banned, so I'm not sure why you're concerned about this.

I miss the insanity of posters like Mr. Parker and bakerboy. They don't make trolls like them anymore. And I miss the hilarity if Tukiluka's crazy posts.

Well, you never know when you're likelly to get banned, i've seen some of the posters i met for the first time being banned, many times i don't even know how it happened, if i remember correctly Troy Parker was a respectful member since around 2006 who was easily banned.

I have some 3 infractions, the last one was given to me in 2011, However i never know when i may accidentally do something i shouldn't. I remember an anouncement that older and more popular members could be forgiven if they reached their 10th infraction, but i don't consider myself one those so i would like to have a chance to contact with a mod if something like this ever happened.

By the way, why does the forum put ************ every time any of us writes comic book movie together? Is that site taboo here?

So............any mod wanna answer this? In just 3 years i've seen posters come and go, so i would prefer to have some kind of reference if something goes wrong.

I think once you're done, you're done. They don't give a crap at that point. 10 strikes and you're out.

You can try the "Contact Us" at the bottom, but I doubt they read from that very often. If you're banned, you're banned it seems.

One thing this reminds me of is do strikes ever go away? Like you get one and after x amount of time it's removed or are they permanant? 10 strikes implies they don't go away for a very long time, if ever.

Well if users would follow the rules and be respectful of others, then there's no reason to be worried about getting banned. If you (I don't mean you as in the OP, just in general) are getting ready to post a picture or say something that you think might be questionable, then your best bet is to not post it, because it's really not worth it.

Sometimes mistakes are made. Rules unintentionally broken or there's a particularly bad day and someone racks up a few points against them when someone/thing else offends them at the wrong time.

Normally that wouldn't be a problem in a short amount of time to get you banned but this place is a decade old. In 10 years of activity you can expect at least one of those things to happen and it can be blind luck whether it gets you in trouble or not for it.

I'm pretty sure in my decade here, I have never been warned or given any infractions. Maybe I'm just a mod's pet.

Well there is people who get banned for being bad or doing wrong and then there is the group that ask to have their names retired. I am one of those who asked to have their name retired in the heat of the moment which I am still fine with that. I like that I was able to retire it with 12,000 post since then I just retire all my usernames after a 1,00 post.

i got a temp ban for complaining about Amy Adam's armpits........ so...... i don't know

Here is a scenario I always envisioned in my head. This site is composed of many different age groups but the youngest group of people on here are the high school teens. Suppose that a 13-15 year old joins the SHH only to be banned for valid reasons and rightfully so. Is that same person not allowed to have a second chance on these boards a few years later when they are 18 - 21? The usual teenager matures a heck of a lot during that gap. Sure there are ways to get back to the site even if permabanned but users would still have to be hush-hush about it due to the mods.

I've never had it happen to me nor do I know any users who fall into that category but it is a scenario that I view as unfair. It's really not just teens who fall in that scenario since everybody matures over the years and some mature later in life than others, but I gave the teen example due to it being the simplest one.

That actually reminds me of when I was back in middle school (mid-late 90s) and my friend and I would get on AOL chatrooms and troll people until we got "punted".

I remember those chat rooms although I frequented Yahoo's more.

WebTV chat rooms provided my friends and I with endless hours of entertainment from trolling. :woot:

Anyone who gets banned can always re-register as their own mother, then log into the Banned Members threads and ask for a second chance. Yeah, that'll work....:ninja:

Wontkinsmother was around longer than I expected.
