How do you think it would take for them to resemble the rest of the natives of their new region?

note: they aren't allowed to breed with any locals. only people within that group

Do you think they would ever resemble the other natives?

Without cross breeding... thousands of years.

the question should be take red marvel and a thousand african american males, what would happen?

:D you'ld end up with a lot of redheaded, hazel eyed mulattoes - what else?

The scandanavians would die of heat stroke, and the Africans would die of hypothermia.

human ability to readapt from an already adapted condition to a different climate.

Yes but we are talking about hundreds of thousands of years in a very low technological environment where you are seemingly talking about adaptation in a high technological environment. Plus the climate is no longer the same. Therefore the re-adaption would not be that as it would be adapting to something new.

I gather technology, especially recent advancements in the last few hundreds of years would have changed things drammatically.

so let me get this straight. If i was to word the question such that it wasn't the actual inhabitants that left their places of origin but the actual locations changed their climates (no matter how slowly), then perhaps that would be a better means of a direct analysis.

ps, i'm happy for all views, i'm just putting a question out there. I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything.

but then certain issues like diet, and the ability to produce certain foods may become an issue which has lead to differences in features.

We would have had 1,000 Scandanavian slaves?

The only thing it would show is how the human body adapts to its climate. I did get your point at the outset and has to do how the general environment mah have (to not say did) created the different races. However, given the technological advancements that have occurred in recent times, as you rightely state, the human body has less of a need to adapt to its environment through genetical changes. Clothes and sunscreens are a hamper in themselves to evolutionary change even if without it may have been required. At the end, the change may require such a time that greater sudden changes may occur deviating the change that would have been required in a stable environment.

We do not see into the infinite, and if the finite is too long too measure, would not the adaptation be impossible to ascertain to make this whole discussion pure intellectual conjecture.

there could be an adaptation that makes people sweat a sunscreen like substance for all we know. i mean who would have thought that animals could gain a food dispensing sweat gland, if they didn't exist already.
