Man, that was a ****ing great movie.
Big fan of the movie.
Although, when that guy riding the white horse cut off the Captain's son's head....where the hell did he go after that? lol
300 was one of the most boring drawn out movies I have ever seen. I swear to Christ it's a good thing I had 2 free passes from Best Buy or I would have asked for my money back. They could have taken all the cool battle scenes and made this into a 30 min movie and it would have been acceptable. Everything else about this movie I just didn't give a crap about. They didn't make you care about any of it. I actually kept looking at my gf's watch to see how much longer we had until it was over. I never do that.
Don't get me wrong I expected and loved the visual style, all the battles and gore. All that stuff was done pretty well. The slo-mo was overdone a little too much I think. It didn't add anything dramatic; it just slowed things down and was just drawn out too long at some points.
I didn't go into this expecting and wanting "crazy action". I go into a film expecting it to hold my interest for the length of it. I expect plot and character development. I expect to be drawn in to the world I'm being shown. I expect to care about the characters I'm watching. I expect characters that at least have some dynamics to their personalities and not be paper thin like in 300.
Making a movie with epic battle scenes is one thing. But you have to tie it all together in a way that keeps the viewers interested for the duration. I'll say this, Zack Snyder is no Peter Jackson. That's for damn sure.
The one good thing about going to see 300 was the new Spider-Man 3 trailer at the beginning which focused on Venom.
My prediction: 300 will easily be #1 this weekend and drop HUGE next weekend.

Not all movies are created equal, therefore they should not be viewed as such. And you also understand that 300 is not meant to be LORT? Being that 300 was a single comic while LORT was a lengthy book series? And yet, you hold both to the same filmmaking standards? That is like saying you didnt like Robocop because it didnt star ArnoldThe purpose of the movie was to entertain with "crazy action" that didn't meet your LORT standards of blurred shots of swords and feet

Zack Snyder is 300 times better than Peter Jackson, thats for damn sure.
I say this in all honesty. Don't be a punk and assume I'm doing this out of spite for the filmmakers or whatever. I spent 10 dollars on this so I have a RIGHT to say what I have to say.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE.
It's a shallow cartoon more than a movie. You won't care what happens. You won't give a crap about the one spartan guy's keanu reeves lookalike son.
I walked out of it, I was so bored of all the repetative videogame violence. It's a dumb badly made movie with a few cool parts here and there. And that's my unbiased view of it.
Take it or leave it.
That has one of my favorite lines of the film too when Leonidas gave Ephialtes teh biggest Spartan insult ever. "I hope you live forever". The look of pain on Ephialtes' face was great.I am loving this movie, I've already seen it twice. It wasn't the greatest of all time, but it was the greatest of this comic book genre. I am torn between these two scene. I am talking about these visually stunning scenes.the scene where he is still a young boy and he comes back after defeating the wolf.as they crown him.You know ,when he stand and the gurads are kneeling in front of him as the snow fall. That was beautiful. The second is in the end as Leonidas stands in front of his remaing spartan made into a ball as xerxes approaches. That was bad ass, no fears, no feeling. That scene was incredible. I love what he did as he died.
Second, the complaints (or call it whatever you want) about the movie being infused with homosexual undertones is bull. Okay, sure, you are watching 300 men fight in their underwear. But that does not make it homoerotic (many soliders once fought completely naked). Its a symbol of the "ultimate male", the ultimate warrior - they are so fearless and skilled in battle that they only need a helmet and shield.
The two soliders who were buddy-buddy were not gay, there was no reason to think that. In every war movie, you ALWAYS have the two soliders who at first hate eachother, then throughout the war, they gain respect for one another and become friends, often being used for comic relief. Legolas and Gimili are perfect examples.
And the comments about the spears and swords being symbolic of sexual penetration is grasping at straws as well. There was so much "penetration" because thats how those weapons were designed for use - to stab a victim. Nothing more, nothing less.
LOOKS LIKE YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO YOURSELF AFTER MY SPOILER, YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN 10 BUCS RICHER . TO EACH HIS OWNI say this in all honesty.
