So far they're up to 13: The Alien Series. How much of a chance does the X-Men series have. Honestly, I can't think of many more franchises of 3 or more films (which is a requirement to qualify).

I honestly feel that the third film in the series really hurts its chances. Of course, that's just me. I'm sure it'll rank somewhere.

Well, I love the Alien series as well, but if you want to talk about absolute suckiness, Alien 3 ranks right up there. Alien Ressurection isn't too far behind it.

Too many heavyweights......Star wars or LOTR's is # 1....Batman didn't get mentioned....spider-man star trek...Indian Jones...Jurrasic Park.....James Bond..etc and they are already in the top ten.....and at # 8..its gonna be really tuff.

25. Saw
24. Pink Panther
23. Dirty Harry
22. Lethal Weapon
21. Nightmare on Elm Street
20. George Romero's Dead films
19. Jurassic Park
18. Godzilla
17. The Terminator
16. Superman
15. Die Hard
14. Harry Potter
13. Alien
12. Rocky
11. The Matrix
10. The Godfather
9. Back to The Future
8. Planet of The Apes

. . . Yeah, that's some pretty stiff competition. Lord of The Rings, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, etc. are still left.

not forgetting spiderman of course

ah yeah, didnt read that part lol

Well after the next one is released it will definately be in the top 5 in future polls

So true, but then they have these other great series right next to it, I don't really agree with it but whatever, it's just a list and I'm not the one to criticize it.

Do we know the full countdown yet? Is X-Men in it? I reckon there's a good chance X-Men will be in the top 7. The only others I can think of are Indiana Jones, Star Wars, LOTR, James Bond and maybe Batman and Austin Powers so that still leaves some room for X-Men. It should definitely be in there imo, there's no way it shouldn't be in the top 25!

That's because the Saw trilogy is better than X3. What hurts X3 is that the reaction to it was severely mixed and it got trounced by a romantic comedy of all films. I will say X-Men will probably be at around maybe 5 or 6.

Before you say it made it's money back and all, that is true, however, seeing as they had to raise the budget even more to get the film out it still didn't turn in a better profit than X2.

I really don't know if you can count Batman at this point, simply because Batman Begins is a restart and the saga hasn't been completed yet with that story.

With Batman though I think they'd focus on the success of Batman and Batman Returns. If Superman can make it into the list with Superman 3 & 4 as part of that series, then there's definitely hope for X-Men!

Edit: Damn I forgot about Star Trek, this could be close!

You think so? Considering how many fans and non-fans looked at Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, I figured they'd probably exclude those films and wait until the Batman Begins saga is completed.

Star Trek is definitely another one. The first film, Wrath of Khan, Search For Spock, The Voyage Home, The Final Frontier, The Undiscovered Country, and Generations were and are excellent Trek films.

my bets:

1- Lord Of the Rings
2- Star Wars
3- Indiana Jones
4- X-Men
5- Star Trek

Yeah but don't you think the same of Superman 3 & 4 and how those films were panned but the Superman series still made it on the list. I dunno, maybe they'll leave Batman out. I agree about Star Trek, I also liked First Contact. I'd say X-Men will be number 6 or 7 in this list anyway.

I don't know where the X-Men franchise will rank, if it does. There are still the Bond Films, Indiana Jones, The Lord of The Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek . . . then there's the "Horror" genre littered with franchises like Friday the 13th, Halloween, etc. (although I don't know about franchises like Halloween).

There is only one good Matrix film and it's ranked up there.

Yeah I was thinking of the Horror genre too. I think Halloween has too many rubbish sequels etc. to consider. The first one was the only good one wasn't it? I doubt the Scream or Final Destination trilogies will be included either.
I'd say the Austin Powers trilogy could well be in there as well as LOTR, Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, James Bond and X-Men but we'll see.

You're forgotting Godfather... EDIT: Ah, it was already there. My bad.

And I don't think that X-Men makes it. Because of X3.

Godfather is already in there and X3 was hardly bad enough to disregard the X-Men series from consideration altogether! Superman made it in and so did The Matrix but Superman 3 & 4 and Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions got bad reviews so....

I'm sure X-MEN will rank. While X3 wasn't their highest point, it's been all around successful franchise, and very well received, IMO
