ILM signed on to do the special effects awhile back, but now Micheal Bay has bought out Digital Domain....

So whats this do to the Transformers?

Is ILM still on? or did Digital Domain replace them?

Digital Domain does some awesome work, but ILM is just allot better when it comes to CG charectors.

Whats the deal?

Most films, especially these days, use several f/x houses. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4 or more f/x houses work on this project.

there were like a million working on x3....so...maybe its both..and more

I think they were both going to do the FX work on the film, with ILM doing the majority of the work and Digital Domain doing the rest.

Wasn't Digital Domain involved in the trailer?

Anyway, it's been reported that KNB Effects with handle the practical side of things.

There been often times where more then one FX company did FX for one movie, They could have one company do the opening titles and such.

Transformers?

Oh wait, this is Transformers. I almost forgot.

Silly me. :o

As of late, a movie will use multiple FX companies: One for the primary effects, and others for little ones.

For example, Rythme and Hues worked on the LION in Naria. Meanwhile, Sony Imageworks worked on the beavers. Or something like that.
Sometimes, a movie like Batman Begins have smaller comanies do the FX, each with equel share of responsibilities..

Usually ILM works alone. From my knowledge, they did maybe 90 percent of the effects in Pirates.

If ILM keeps up the standard that they established with Davy Jones, then Ill go with them. To my knowledge, Digital Domain has been out of the loop for a while.

90% is way too high a number. They did all the lead character animation though.
