I think GTA pretty much peaked at least for me with the first game on PS2. The subsequent Vice City and games on PSP, along with the clones such as True Crime and Crackdown just feel like rehashes to me. It'd take a little more for me to get interested.

Okay I finally saw the trailer. Damn, I can't believe how fast it loaded on YouTube. I didn't realise it was so much faster to download videos that way. Even with me being on dial-up it took only about 15 minutes to load.

Well, this trailer did sort of underwhelm me too. Except for the graphics! Geez louise, they're incredible! I never imagined just how sharp the graphics would be on PS3(don't own one yet).

Liberty City does seem like a dull choice...BUT, how do we know LC is the only city in the game? This is just a teaser trailer; Rockstar has not came out and specifically stated "the game is set in Liberty City and Liberty City only". For all we know upstate "New york"(I guess that would be New Liberty actually) is included and perhaps Northern New Jersey. Hell it could be the entire tri-state area, plus upstate New York.

Also, Liberty City looks a LOT bigger and a LOT different from GTAIII. It looks much more like NYC. Theres the Stock Exchange, the Statue of Liberty, a more accurate Times Square, Empire State Building, and I think I saw Battery Park too(not sure about this one, is that where the main character was standing by the statue right after his narraration began?). Hopefully, at the very least, instead of that crap of 3 "boroughs" like in GTAIII this game will actually feature the 5 boroughs.

The Russian Mobster is pretty "meh" to me as a main character but maybe they'll give him an interesting storyline.


EDIT: You know, I'm not actually THAT disappointed in the location because the location isn't what I'm REALLY concerned about when it comes to this game. What I really want to see is a big improvement in gameplay itself. There are so many oppurtunities for the gameplay to have more depth than the ones on PS2, I hope thats what they really go for with this. Whats promising is that they're using this RAGE engine or whatever its called, which supposedly will allow the player to interact with the game in a much more fluid and spontaneous manner, even less constricted than the previous GTA games. Hopefully we'll get gameplay aspects like all of the structures being rendered in real-time, and the ability to destroy them by fire or rocket launcher or whatever. That alone could add a new level of depth to the gameplay.

I just watched the trailer again and I noticed something: It looks like they're including the Staten Island Ferry. Perhaps if they want to make the game more realistic, anytime you're on the thing at night its filled with weirdos and other criminal types/gangs. Hell maybe this game will include a mugging aspect.

I even toyed with the idea that maybe I hate his guts,...but there's that nagging fact that he has awesome taste in music.

But, in a world where little kids in Afghanistan are trying to survive by eating fried grass cakes.....and after seeing that the trailler was nothing but a few seconds of shots of buildings and cars and an immigrant saying 3 or 4 sentences......and reading how profoundly down he sounds about not getting to see it.........I'm......edging over to the guts-hate region....

Clearly, the game is taking place in a massive, very realistic looking city. I don't know what people expected

It actually seems to me they've learned from their mistakes in San Andreas. I found San Andreas to be kinda dull. Each individual island by itself wasn't all that big, and there wasn't that much to do.

It's good that they've focues on just creating a realistic city.

Also, I like the russian immigrant angle. They come up with pretty interesting characters. I'm glad tehre are people out there who want to do something different from "generic white guy".

If a girl breaks her nail and gets "really depressed" about it and cries over it, it will not kill Afghan children, but I would still think she was gross.
I like people with a sense of perspective. The trailler was a few seconds long....the trailler for a video game...you were typing as if your Mom just got diagnosed with breast cancer or you were the victim of identity theft or something.
