I didn't expect this, but Yondu was my favorite part of this movie. I loved the way they developed his character and his bromance with Rocket was fantastic. The scenes with the two of them on the Ravagers' ship were fantastic.

The mask broke before the final 1 on 1 showdown with Ego.

Or Rooker was just visiting the set. It also allowed fans to think he was safe in GOTG 2. Like Quicksilver said "You didn't see it coming"

If he does return it will probably be from the soul stone. We don't know what it can do yet.

I think besides the Mary Poppins line my favorite line from him was when his crewman asked if he remembered the Sovereign lady and he replied, "Yeah, what–AW HECK!" The way he delivered it was just priceless.

Not gonna lie, I've had tears in my eyes (hidden behind the 3D glasses) when Yondu died and later when they gave him the grandest send off. Michael Rooker destroyed this movie with his powerful performance.

Yeah, he really killed it - probably the most memorable character Rooker has ever played.

the scene where he and Rocket escape to "Come a little bit closer" is both funny and badass, a real standout moment for me

Also, as someone else has said, after seeing Yondu in vol 2, it changes the way you see him and how he behaves in vol 1

because while it's obvious that he cares about Peter in vol 1, you don't really understand how much until vol 2.

Makes you wonder if they always had this particular arc in mind for Yondu.

Both GOTG VOL 1 and VOL2 start with flashbacks from Quill's life. No reason we won't see Yondu again.

Totally agree that while it's sad to see such a great character go, his end was so well handled that it was the best possible ending he could have had. Definitely the "We are Groot" moment.

It was definitely a good sendoff for the character. Had a bad feeling when I saw Peter's mask break that they were going somewhere like this.

But even though it was a sad moment, it worked. Especially since they did such a good job through the ending to make it feel worthwhile.

A lot of scenes that helped make it work; That whole funeral section was really good. Then you had Peter reflecting with the others about Yondu, the Ravagers showing up, Yondu getting the funeral rights he was said to be denied earlier on in the film, Peter getting a musical gift from his 'dad' after his passing similar to his mother giving him music at her deathbed, passing on Yondu's arrow, etc.

I don't like seeing characters die. But if they can be done with respect like this...then it's worthwhile. Goes out a strong character and his life had meaning to specific members of the main cast.

I could see us seeing him once again for a flashback sequence.

He could potentially also appear in various IG-related reality warping scenes. I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of fallen heroes and inspirational figures make a return thusly, albeit a temporary one.
