I've been a 'negatron' for some time now.

But damn it, the more I see new clips of the movie, the more I'm liking it.

I don't know. Maybe its just the 10 year old in me coming out whose very first Transformer was Prime waaaay back in 1984. Then of course watching the cartoons religiously and collecting the comic books, then seeing the movie in '86.

I still don't like Megatron's look and even Starscream, but when I saw that big semi truck leading the charge as the other vehicles followed it in that recent MTV exclusive clip, I was like "f*uck yeah."

I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping megatron gets a earth mode form at the end of the movie and they suprise us all with a Megatron that resembles his G1 form. Like, how optimus resembles his G1 form.

While I am aniticipating this film I had no problem is ripping it apart. However after that flurry of MTV clips my excitement is head and shoulders above what is was before.

I think as a movie it'll be okay with lots of CGI.

As a Transformers movie, it'll stink. Remeber to keep those two seperate; Movie & Transformers Movie.

I'm all for a giant robot smash fest, but when you put the words 'The Transformers' next to it, you are raising the bar and making the audience expect something better.

If this had been called, 'Robots Battle On Earth' or something like that, everyone under the sun would want to see this movie.

For all you Negatrons...:trans:

As a fan i agree, but I have to imagine that when the average joe who's not a huge fan thinks about transformers, he thinks "I'm all for a giant robot smash fest"... I don't necessarily think that everyone who will see this movie will leave expecting more simple because it was called "Transformers"

I would not go see a movie called "Robots Battle On Earth." That, to me, sounds like the sequel to Snakes On A Plane.

Title does not matter. If you can come up with a slick one word marketing title, go for it. The point is calling it something else would not have people so divided. they've removed almost everything related to 'Transformers' in this movie, so it doesn't matter. Call it Go-Bots, see if anyone notices.

I don't plan on seeing it. If I do. I'll buy a ticket for something else and sneak in. ;)

The Yahoo trailer is superb. It totally convinced me.....

until I remembered that I liked the trailer for a bunch of movies that "suckered me in." Then I saw the version of the Trailer attached to Shrek in the theater and I remembered why I disliked the direction they took this movie in. So I'm pretty much back to square one. I agree wholeheartedly with wyngarde's post above.

But Go-Bots wasn't as popular as Transformers.... They seem to think that having some G1 names and design elements intact is good enough... for some it is, for some it isn't. I just hope they put more thought into the sequels so there less conflict next go around.

i think it's interesting what these clips are doing to ppl

personally i watched the bonecrusher clip and it simply affirmed what i suspected all along

bay shoots action like he means it...
the angels the lighting the speed and the kinetics

compare that one scene to anything in superman returns...
I don't even remember it being sunny in that movie

lol instead of will smith running in slow motion...we get optimus

Megatron: As it'll be cool for Megatron to have an Earth mode, I'm actually fine with him just having his protoform. (I don't wanna spoil it, so I'll highlight the rest): [BLACKOUT]If Megatron were to return for the sequel, seeing how he dies in this movie, I am sure Megs will have an Earth mode...possibly a larger jet than to Starscream's version.[/BLACKOUT]

Starscream: I was a bit dissappointed when I first saw designs of him, as of almost everyother Transformer too, but they all went through stages to make them better, and plus, after seeing Starscream in the trailers, I'm satisfied with him too...he could've looked the way he did back before his changes...and, the scene where he turns into the jet in the sky blew my mind.

The plane scene in SR was kinda sunny...and when Superman flew in front of the sun...that was sunny, haha.

The clips are (more or less) doing the following:

For those who are already excited for this film: It's building up their excitement more.

For those who are indifferent about Transformers: More think it looks amazing than those who think it looks stupid.

For those who are disgruntled with this film: It's reaffirming their dissastifaction.

Welcome to the world of people who have common sense and don't jump to conclusions.

enjoy your stay

WELCOME, TF and mike bay loving brethren!!!!

The Rock and The Island were some of my favourite films, and I didn't even know who Michael Bay was before getting into this movie. And I am pretty picky with what I like too. So I guess people like different things, that's all. Personal preference.

You could've posted this in the Optimist thread. It didn't require it's own thread.

I'm sure he'll turn up in the sequel. They can always rebuild him. Better, stronger, faster .... ummm .... nevermind.

Yeah we know Go-bots wasn't as popular. The point is Bay's Transformers is exploiting the title, names and popularity without capturing what truly made it popular and memorable in the first place. It's a dumb, loud Go-bots movie with the Transformer names slapped on.

I hope they put more thought into the sequels so the movies will deserve the title of Transformers instead of being a shameless bait and switch trick.

I seriously doubt the majority of people getting confused between Transformers and Go-bots from this movie. People will either like it or just pass on it. For the people who like it, they will just except it for being a cool Transformer film.

in hindsight, was the transformers story really that good during the g1 series?

alot of the stories i felt were somewhat repetitive but this was the case with lots of cartoons from the 80s
