then he'd have to dig up some old fat Ps3. psnow does have some of the remastered Ps2 classics.

or get a new model PS3 for a good price and then get a used PS2 at a good price for the PS2 games.

but if there are enough digital PS2 games available for the PS3 that he wants, then he can just get a PS3.

that's a lot of trouble to go through just to play the older games imo

true. but that's up to BadrHari if he wants to play PS2 games that aren't available digitally for the PS3.

it would probably be more trouble and more expense to track down an old fat model PS3 that has PS2 BC.

well, it looks like there's only one left.

so if BadrHari wants to spend $200 on a used console and take a chance on eBay with that seller, then he better act fast.
that was just one link. my point with that was that all it took was a 5 second search to see how much it would cost (the range) and how available they were.

but you can't just go down to your local store and pick one up. even a used game store would be less likely to have a fat PS3 that's BC than a used PS2.

and you are paying a premium for a used, older console that has less storage but has that PS2 BC ( which is what you're paying the premium for ).

and then you have to deal with online sellers like the ebay seller and you have to hope and trust that the product works as advertised.

but if BadrHari is inclined to go down that route, then he certainly has that option. it depends on how much he wants to play those PS2 games.

did hari say he specifically wants to pick one of these up in retail and doesn't want to buy it online?

and yeah, that's how buying stuff on ebay works. you look at the rep of the seller (it's public) and determine for yourself if it's worth buying

he didn't say anything about buying online vs retail store, I don't think.

but he did say he prefers to buy consoles new.

so for someone who prefers new, if one must buy a used console, then he'd probably be more comfortable spending $60 or $70 for a used PS2 vs spending $200 for a fat model PS3.

that being said, if you want a PS3 console that can play PS3, PS2, and PS1 games, then taking a chance and spending $200 for that fat console might be a good route. just have to take that risk.

you can always add a bigger hdd later if you need more space.

if he wants something new then the first option should be wii u but if he wants to also play Ps1/2 games he's got no choice but to go with something used. buying a used Ps2 and a new Ps3 with a decent hd would probably be more expensive than buying a used 60GB Ps3.

Its a moot point bc all PS3s can play digital PS1 and PS2 games and the ones he is interested in are available. As he mentions, its also cheaper going that route than trying to purchase the actual discs. Digital is also more reliable bc you dont have to worry about scratching on discs which was a problem in the early days, especially with the PS1 CDs

well, if all the PS1 and PS2 games he wants are available digitally on the PS3, then the PS3 should be his choice and he can get by with a new slim PS3.

If you haven't been on the gaming scene in quite sometime and don't own any previous PS games, you can purchase most of the PS1 and 2 library via PSN, so a PS3 would be a viable option. Unless you want to play newer games and have the money, then the PS4 is the way to go. The Xbox 360 has the better multiplats for sure due to it being much easier to program for versus the PS3, but the PS3 has more exclusives (MGS4, TLoU, Uncharted, GoW, Sly Cooper, etc.).

well he's banned now. can't get any more moot than that lol

No idea, but looks like it's a perma-ban, too, so I guess I'll go away and close this thread down. Don't really see much point to it without the OP.
