Images in Signatures

This is something I always wanted to know, why aren't images allowed in the sigs? And if someone were to start a thread asking people if they want an img on their sig and tons of people said yes... would it be finally allowed? I had no clue where else to ask this

It wouldn't work, or at least I don't think it would, they'd have to be insanely small to be Ok, otherwise they'd be slowing down everyones internet connection and loading times for pages

Because they're lame and no one needs them? Isn't your avatar enough? If you REALLY insist on having an image in your signature then you can just post the same image at the tail end of every post.

Well thanks for answering, that's all I really wanted to know... although I know boards with even more people than this one that have the option to see the sigs and avatars or to not see it if they're connection is slow...

It's not just that people's connections are slow, it's that the server's bandwidth usage would explode. And the server's take enough of a pounding as it is.

About the only way I could see sig images working is if they could only be placed inside spoiler tags. And since the images wouldn't be visible anyway, then what's the point?

That would be a nightmare . I dont want to wait half an hour to see dean cain's nipple.

How about user bar sigs?

Width-wise this one is longer than any avatar on here. Byte-wise it's smaller. This one is only 25.56 kb while my avy is 41.33 KB. It could be much lower if it weren't animated. So the lag time would almost go unnoticeable compare to what you see in picture & gif threads.

Just set a size limit to the image (both in width/height & in bytes/kbs.) & set a limit to how many images can be posted in a person's sig (which should be one).

Just a thought.
