Personally when Independence Day came out it occurred to me that it would be an easy idea to continue the storyline in a series of films. Either a prequel or sequel easily could work to create a successful film. In fact, the two novels War in the Desert & Silent Zone published alongside the release of the film, are quite remarkable. Both plots contain very interesting elements that could have been explored.

Here are links to some summaries:

It would be cool...but the relevence to the first film is long gone. ID4 stands alone very well and I don't want to see a sequal made just to cash in on Will Smith. I'm sick of that guy. If a sequal had been made a year or two after the first, it would be cool, but almost a decade later...naw..PASS.

How would a prequel work??? A sequel maybe.

Sequel. Because it's easier than doing a prequel. I mean what would the prequel cover. The Roswell incident ? A younger version of old pilot dude getting abducted and raped in space ?

In a sequel I'd like to see ground battles added.

Neither. We really don't need prequels or sequels to EVERY damn blockbuster movie ever made. It was a very good stand alone movie and I say just leave it at that.

what would the prequel cover exactly? Haha.

I liked Independence day, but I don't think it needs a prequel or a sequel, especially after all this time.

I used to get crunked up to bill pullman's speech

The movie could deal with the aliens joining together to ambush & invade earth & then from there they could finish the movie on out from the perspective of another country that the aliens attacked besides america & how they delt with the aliens themselves.

Basically a remake with a different perspective.

Independence Day 2: Welcome back ta Erf.

Unnecessary. One attempted alien invasion is enough. Let's not push it.

And is a second I Am Legend necessary either?! Cause I think not.

ID4 had one story to tell and told it. There really is nothing else to do with it.

ID4 is one of my favorite popcorn flicks of all time - a sequel, however, is an unnecessary as Crank 2.
