I thought about this in the bathroom after the movie; (among other things...jk) Not only has the wonderful series burned out like other great trilogies (in my mind) but now it might simply become a part of history, an old movie. (again like the older franchises.) We'l eventually get remakes like 20 years from now where they re-invent the franchise and the costume and everything that i loved about the first two. There are a few movies in history they'll never remake (Gone with the wind, Citizen Kane, Casablanca) But this franchise wont be one of them. :csad: I feel old already.

*Sings the phrase "Im really depressed now" to the black spidey theme*

They will never remake this film nor any comic book film for that matter. What they'll do is a reboot because there's so much material to use.

It's like saying Batman Begins was a remake...

It will be just like zombie/horror movies...20-30 years will pass, everyone will forget about them, then some kids will come along and dig them back up and realize they're sweet, and get to enjoy them for about five minutes before the industry smells cash and ****es it all back out again, and then 20-30 years will pass, and then...

They'll reboot the series in 20 years (or less depending how desperate Hollywood becomes. Coughbatmancough....coughANDhulkcough).

But what's hard is they're going to have to retell the origin story. And after how near flawless it was told by Raimi in the first hour of SM1 and the introduction of GG (albeit killing Gwen could be an easy way of topping that) I imagine it'd be hard to tell this story. I mean it's not like you can just remake it again....it'd be redundant. It'd be like remaking Richard Donner's Superman movie...oh wait.

Who cares, you've got a decade or two until a remake, you'll probably be dead by then anyway?

Not this again... In every single comic book forum for every comic book film, there's a topic suggesting a reboot. BB has spoiled us. Now everyone who dislikes a film wants a reboot, although that only happened once. And it took a "film" like B&R to happen...

I wouldn't mind a reboot, as long as Spider-Man stars in it, instead of Raimi's Man-Spider. :o

;)

Suggesting a reboot is not the topic of this thread. A little touchy?

lol. Saying Raimi has too much Parker and too little Spiderman in his movies? I can agree with that, but their still great movies.

They are probably going to reboot the series 20 or 30 years from now like others have said. But thankfully not right now because the series is going great so far and I know that greatness will continue in the coming Sequals.

You're right, I misread the original post and got confused by some of the answers. Still, I don't think the franchise is in any immediate danger of dying and being forgotten, so no worries there.

But this thread is asking for a reboot. A redo a remake, whatever you want to call it. But what yhou want is a movie to restart because you are seriously aggrivated too ridiculous levels about Sam Raimi's movies.

And guess what...chacnes are if you're alive for the reboot you won't be happy with that, either.

No, it's not. He's saddened by the prospect of the film industry's inability to leave lucrative franchises (no matter how old) alone. I swear to god, some of you guys just bust into every single thread you suspect of harboring a less-than-glowing vision of SM-3 and attack without even reading any of the posts.

Really?

That's nice. I agree I"m sick of remakes and unoriginality in Hollywood. But anyone who wants to preach that train needs to go after sequels too. Beceause sequels are a branch of a lack of creativity or risk-taking by major studios.

I am annoyede by the prospect but they are remakign movies within the last 10 years or so. I mean for all intensive purposes Batman Begins is a remake. A new Batman franchise with an origin movie. Sure it is completely dfiferent, but if we are cinephiles who protest such laziness (and realistically we should) than every superhero sequel/reboot/re-whatever should be blackblalled around here.

That's pretty much true. The only thing I will say in defense of sequels is that they bring new material or new stories to the table, in that way they are somewhat less lazy and morally bankrupt as just remaking 20-year old movies because they've achieved cult status (see: every 70's horror film for current examples of this).

Those who think that the Spider-Man franchise needs a reboot are seriously mistaken. Saying a restart is necessary is essentially saying that the only Spider-man/Peter Parker story worth telling is the origin story of good nerd-turned-superhero. That angle was covered quite satisfactory in the first movie. The second did a fantastic job of developing the story. Just because the third was a disappointment or you yourself didn't like Raimi's interpretation, that does not immediately necessitate a reboot. If that were the case, we'd probably never get to see other classic Spidey tales, because we would be covering the same origin story every three movies because certain factions of fans don't like the new director's take.
For the record, I was severely let down by S-M3 and I think a new director and cast needs to take over, but we do not need to start over. There are numerous stories that need to be told and, with the right writing and cast, will feel fresh despite its simple continuance.

20 or 30 years? Pushing it a bit don't you think? :whatever:

Not really

Batman got its Burton relaunch 23 years after the campy '66 film, and its restart 16 years later, and Superman got its "sequel" (essentially a fresh start to the franchise) 28 years after the sublime Donner original and 25 years after the arguably better sequel (Do we even count 3 and 4 or pretend they never happened? :cwink: )

So really, spidermanhero12's prediction doesn't seem that far off, especially if Raimi and Maguire return (or a new cast and crew continue the original vision) for a fourth installment for 2010-2012.

I see no reason to think their won't be a relaunch of a Spidey franchise in the future. No matter how good a series of movies has been, there is always room for improvement as well as technological advances that make new films lucrative. We'll probably all be middle aged ( acutally, I'll be old ) when it happens but we'll take our kids to see a new generation of Spidey flicks someday.

They will never reboot... if anything they will get straight to the clone saga and Ben Reiley. Unless SM4 is another Batman and Robin... you only reboot when the final installments are complete flops... which SM3 wasn't.

But the thing is, Raimi's movies lacked Peter Parker. We got typical Tmags doing what he does in every damn movie. I want to see Peter Parker not a crying pu**y.

I hardly consider Burton's film a "relaunch". You do know the 66 movie was made for TV, right? Right along side the show.
