Sony pictures thinking of making Ghostbusters cinematic universe.

Yea, it's like Sony felt they weren't imploding quick enough.

It's a result of a system which has made it almost impossible to develop original properties any longer. No longer can you try making something new, you've got to have something with name recognition before you green light it. Long term that's a recipe for disaster.

Or Sony just needs better people in charge green lighting better movies ? Because now any MARVEL movie Sony makes will be dead on arrival & DCEU movies will pose bigger threats than anything Sony does. Had Sony been a competent studio they wouldnt be in this situation. The guy in charge of Sony now was against Titanic & Avatar & Deadpool after all Sony dug their own grave as far as I am concerned

Sony's problems are a symptom of an issue industry wide, the lack of willingness to not rely on established brands. Sony's solution is actually quite simple, start making smaller budgeted movies featuring brand new characters and original worlds. That would instantly separate them from everyone else. But they don't want to do that because they think they can get more money by using an existing properties, like every other studio.

NO! let this and the Terminator franchise die already, like i mentioned Ghostbusters died with Harold Ramis and Hollywood needs to do new franchises. These two franchises should be left to rest in peace in favor of new franchises, let old glory rest, it's earned it, find new glory.

In a perfect world I'd agree with you but if they're not going to let it go then they have to at least get it right without ruining the entire thing.

They need the money generated by the tentpoles and franchises to fund finding and producing all the other projects, then they become an established name and fund other things. That's the model these days.

We can say at this point though they won't get it right especially with the people they have there now that has already ruined so many other movies & the very movies that they hope will save them will be the cause of their own destruction

Sony has new problem as studio. People dont trust them anymore as studio which make good movies or good decisions. That's why you see original movies to bomb regardless if they have good cast or they are solid to good movies. Like Life for example.

It's hurting them, destroying Spider-Man franchise, destroying Ghostbusters franchise with TERRIBLE marketing with all that feministic propaganda, basically saying if you dont like the movie you are against females, e-mail leaks which only give us insight how terrible people and lousy people work in that studio, all of them with terrible ideas, all of them doing cash grabs.

Only reason why we will see R-rated Venom movie is, because Fox did it before. And they saw cash grab opportunity to make some money. They dont care about properties, they dont care about fans, they care about what is "hit" right now. Oh, feministic Hollywood with all fake diverisity and feministic propaganda castings, "let's make female Ghostbusters", oh Fox doing R-rated movies," let's put Venom out there". Not mention Emoji movie on which movie are trying to save studio from bankruptcy.

And people smell out garbage miles away.

Its funny how most of us can see a simple idea like the old GB reprsing their role one last time to mentor and pass the torch to a younger team. The Extreme GB model. Old fans get to see them one last time while the franchise continue with fresh blood. Keeping continuity intact

But there are brain dead people in charge at Sony. Oh well

& no doubt at least Ray & Winston would happily show up just kill off Venkman & move on from the original team with a likeable new team but its Tom Rothman there what can we do besides put him out of a job in a few years ? Hopefully the next studio that buys the rights & owns Ghostbusters either pass the torch correctly or reboot it properly
