So I just got a call that a nearby Toys R Us wants me to come to an interview for a position as Storeroom Supervisor. This would probably give me a heads up on everything in the toy universe that flows through TRU. Should I go for it? Does anyone know what it's like to work for TRU?

i have no idea. i don't have a problem with you crossing over as long as you don't cross over to the dark side. don't become a low life scalper. i'm pretty sure you said you were in college right? how much longer do you have to go if so?

I had an interview at a TRU once. The guy wanted me to be warehouse supervisor. I would have jumped at it in a heartbeat, but he wanted to pay me was $7.50 an hour. That's a joke. Especially with everything he wanted me to do with their little warehouse. It was a garbage dump.

I'm graduated and looking for work. I'm deciding between doing a number of part time jobs and substitute teaching or full time work. I'm going back to school eventually anyways to get a teaching degree. So I'm debating if I should bother with TRU because I won't be there long term.

I'm worried about boat loads of work and little pay. I'm already doing that as is as a steel worker.

yeah, well if the pay sucks, then i dont know if it would be worth it for you. of course, it's all your call. and there might be someone else "working" that store anyway and that could cause conflict.

I would do it just to have an advantge of getting the figures.....But you would be badly hated if you take figures that other people want....Like the fat f#&k at the TRU I go to...after a 58mile trip to there and going throw a big ass town to finaly park in the parking lot...I find out that the only figure that I want has been tooking by the ass#ole that opens the boxes and sells them on ebay........I hate that Jubba the Hut looking sum*****...

i think it would be a poor choice to get a job at TRU just for figures. The figs are great and all and I buy more than I need, but it still wouldn't be worth keeping myself from something better.

I had an interview at TRU. I was already working a full time night Job...Remember the days when I was on the Hype a lot more at night? Anyway I applied for a PT Night job hoping to work there stocking on my two nights off, they wanted me for 3 nights and wouldn't budge on that....so I had to pass.

Maybe now that I'm off nights I should check back.....though I fear now that I will hit that dreaded "Overqualified" stage....though with Alberta's labor shortage It prolly wont matter, hell I could prolly met some workers there for my hotel.

My first interview went really well. I know I kicked major ass. They are going to arrange to have a second interview with me with the district manager. Problem? It sounds like the pay is going to suck. I have student loans to pay and a girlfriend I want to propose to. They did mention that the position they want me for leads to a lot of upward mobility and promotions...so in the long term the job could be great. But I don't know if I have a long term.

well good luck with ever you want to do. just don't let them suck you in if you think you don't really want to do it.

If it's any concelation I know of a guy who worked for TRU back in the mid 90s when Hasbro first got the Star Wars License...and he convinced his store to buy piss loads of them, and it spilled to other stores........and they sold like crazy. Anyway long story short, Right after that he got promotes and is a corporate sales guy for TRU Canada and had to move to Toronto.

that was kind of a given though... hasbro got the licesnse right at episode 1... and they sold well because IT WAS A NEW STAR WARS MOVIE! lol.... well it might have been episode 2 actually..... but either way... and if it was episode 2 then they did sell well at first.. but...... sold horribly later it's why KB's had box sets of 4 or 5 for the price of 2 figs

I have been offered the job outright. They want me to work there pretty bad. But I've been told that with my job and school experience, I'm limiting myself to Toys R Us. It pays 12 bucks an hour, 2 weeks vacation, 8 personal days, full medical. I have a pretty kick ass resume...

What do you guys think? Work a job doing receiving at TRU or try to find something that'll pay more?

depends on what you want man.. that what it all comes down to.. you can always quit if you dont like it

Yea, the full medical insurance coverage is a nice thing. I'd make the same amount of money as my current job or if I was doing really good as a substitute teacher, but TRU is the onlyone providing medical.

Did you apply online or in person? Yeah I would take the job, like spideyboy said, you dont like it then quit, nothing gained nothing lost.

Online. Had a group interview and they wanted me pretty bad. I impressed them with my improv skills and the fact that I know the layout of Toys R Us extremely well. That, and I'm probably overqualified.

I know what you mean. Most if not all employees are tards.

Well, I had a long meeting with a buddy of mine who's worked as a recruiter and a career counseler. He looked at my resume and was like "why are you trying to work at TRU? With this stuff you could do anything you wanted". And he's right in some ways. I'm thinking TRU could be a waste of time or it could be a good way to get my feet wet and see what a 9-5 full timer is like. I've got a degree that I got with a damn nice 3.5 gpa, excellent experience...who knows. I may just flip a coin.

well like i said.. take the job.. keep your eye out for another... and if you dont like or find a better.. then quit
