Infinity Ward's "Call of Duy 4" to be focused on modern combat?

Infinity Ward should have been given development for the Bond games now that Activision handles the rights. Oh well, they'll probably let a crap developer have them.

I hate 16 versus 16 and more. I like tactical games much more. 4 Vs.4, like Call of Duty 2, and Gears of War.

Ah no way dude. The huge chaotic battles are insanely fun(imo).
Im glad CoD4 is gonna go to modern warfare, not that im sick of WWII, because in NOT(and i CANT wait for Brothers in Arms:Hells Highway) but i want a good modern warfare FPS. Id like somthing set in the middle east. Say the capture of Baghdad or somthing to that nature, maybe even a fictional area could work.

I like smaller personal fights better.

I hardly ever played a match on CoD2 that was more than 4 people in a map.

With certain games small battles work, but a WWII shooter or a modern military sim almost calls for bigger battles.

It would be so awesome if you think about it. You could see Normandy from the defensive position, you could be an Auschwitz guard, then there'd be some missions where you're shooting unarmed people in Ghettos.

Totally untouched scenarios. It would be a refreshing look at a stale story.

Huh, I don't know what to think of this

I wanted Infinity Ward to take another shot at WW2, but then again, it looks like MoH: Airborne and BiA: HH are both going to be good, so perhaps this is for the best?

"A reliable source close to the Call of Duty development teams has revealed not only the existence of Call of Duty 4, but vital details surrounding the game as well, including the fact that it will be based on modern combat.

According to our source, Call of Duty 4 will be developed by Infinity Ward, the developer behind the first and second installments. The three-way deal established between Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Activision states that Infinity Ward will develop all even numbered titles while Treyarch develops the odd numbered games, such as Call of Duty 3. Treyarch did develop Call of Duty 2: Big Red One as well, however.

As aforementioned, Call of Duty 4 is said to step away from the war torn locales of World War II, instead focusing on the battlefields of present day. It is unknown if it will take the same path as Electronic Arts’ Battlefield franchise, placing the spotlight on the Middle East.

The source compared Call of Duty 4’s technical achievements to other games saying that while most shooters have two or three critical points on the head, Call of Duty 4 has 16, saying that you can shoot the side of an opponent’s helmet to make it spin on their head, or knock the helmet clean off. Supposedly you will even be able to shoot an enemy’s ear off.

Although Call of Duty’s single player has always been a mainstay of the franchise, the multiplayer is certainly something to write home about. Our source has said that there have been multiplayer bouts with 54 players. PC gamers will be happy to know that they will be able to join the action once again, as Infinity Ward is supposed to be bringing Call of Duty 4 to the PC as well as consoles. Call of Duty 3 is only available on consoles and eventually the PSP.

Activision press representatives were unavailable to confirm or deny these reports; however, Amped IGO will continue attempts to gain verification."

Remember I told you this ages ago and you said you wouldn't buy any COD based on modern combat? :(

But which Battlefield is based on the middle east?

But I see this as good....I skipped out on COD3, and the last WW2 game I see myself getting is the next brother in arms game because that looks different, but like T said, the world doesn't need another ww2 game.

The problem is, it took an incredibly long time to reload one bullet into your gun back then. So...yea.

Vietnam hasn't been done properly yet (In other words, there is no equiviliant to Call of Duty or Medal of Honor with Vietnam. Just a couple of mediocre FPS'). The Middle East could be fun, I guess...but its not really a traditional war. I mean, you don't have enemy combatants shooting at you, you have children running towards you with bombs strapped onto them. A modern warfare FPS will either be too PC to be realistic or too realistic to be fun (I mean, imagine getting hit by a mortar out of no where or having a car full of bombs driven into you. It would get redundant.)

If you want to go to new grounds, try Vietnam or World War I even.

Full Spectrum Warrior and it's sequel are FANTASTIC modern war games.

They're awesome, just not fun at all.

I dunno man I loved 'em...challenging but I always felt like it was possible if I was careful enough....basically i never felt screwed,e very time I died it was pretty much my fault.

I so want them backwards compatible, along with buffy, so much it hurts :(

360 BC is a joke. Getting rid of my original Xbox was a big mistake in hindsight. EB only gave me like $30 for it anyways :(

Yeah I refuse to sell my x box till Buffy and both FSW's are BC. My other two most wanted, call of cthuhlu and doom 3 have made it, so when those are, I will let my original box go. But the biggest joke is big mutha truckers and a god damned barbie game are already bc.

And yeah game stores trade in prices are jokes :(

Dude! That's so awesome! So typical college student man, wooo!!! I'm so drunk.

Sorry I got carried away, whenever I think about alcohol I think about the *****ebags who are like "Let's drink JungleJuice wooooooo!" and "Let's try to convince ourselves we're having fun!!!"
