Provided the movie gets to see the light of day how do you want the relationships between the superheroes?

Here is my dream team:

1. Superman
2. Batman
3. Wonder Woman
4. Flash
5. Green Lantern
6. Hawkgirl
7. Martian Manhunter
8. Aquaman

DISCUSS!!

Ix nay on Hawgirl, man. You sound too grounded in the cartoon, lol. I'd rather see Hawkman and Hawkgirl, like the comics, or the Atom or Green Arrow in substitute for either of them.

But seriously tho, I don't really want to see Hawkgirl in a movie (the first JLA movie anyway). She's the epitome of a second stringer. It'd be like having Supergirl or Batgirl in substitute for Superman or Batman. And I'd hope that the movie would be more faithful to the comics than the cartoon, it shouldn't be just be a live action adaptation of the cartoon. The cartoon was good, but they meshed a lot of characters together that, IMO, wasn't really necessary (namely Flash, who had Wally West's name and appearance (red hair, green eyes), Barry Allen's story, and Bart Allen's personality, and GL, who had a lot of Hal Jordan's story elements, such as his GL status and villains) and tweaked a couple things that didn't need tweaking. Bottom line; whoever makes the movie should be influenced by more than just the cartoon, they need to dig deep into the JLA comics.

:D

But as far as things like personality and character relationship/interaction go, this is what I'd like to see:

Superman - the strongest and possibly most powerful member of the team, the leader and face of the League

Batman - the smartest member on the team, the detective, strategist, and tactician, he's the League's thinking man, also a leader, but is the most reclusive of the League when it comes to public affairs

Wonder Woman - a woman's perspective on things, she also serves as the league's diplomat, but is also a warrioress

Flash - the more humorous of the bunch (tho NOT the token comedy relief or a moron, like the JLU cartoon made him), he is happy to be included, and provides a scientific perspective on things (being a forensic scientist), he finds WW attractive (who doesn't? ;) ), but his college GF, Iris, is his girl at heart (this relationship could be played remniscent of his relationship with Black Canary in JLA: Year One)

Green Lantern - the interstellar hero, if it's extraterrestrial, chances are, he's dealt with it before. He provides a straight laced, military/cop perspective on how to deal with things (being a jet jockey and GL) but is also a bit of a daredevil and showoff

Martian Manhunter - not the smartest, but the wisest of the League, provides a philosophical perspective on things, the league is his only sense of family

Aquaman - king of atlantis, he's there should something important occur underwater (fat chance heheh), seriously tho, he's a king, and is somewhat pompous and pontificate, he's interested in what's best for his people but when the chips are down, he's a team player as well

^ That's pretty much what I'd like to see character wise.

Kevin:

That's an excellent summary.

I'd add that WW would have arguments with the others, primary Batman and Superman, on killing enemies under certain circumstances. She' be much more liberal with that in her thinking. She doesn't need to be a total war monger on this just she thinks its an option as a last resort.

They shouldn't make her the morality punching bag for the Big Two on this like it was in the comics, though. It definitely shouldn't make her a pariah within the group just a cause of friction.

I agree with your post man on how the characters should be protrayed in the film counting if a jla film will ever get off the ground.

all i have to say is that flash better have a GREAT sense of humor or heads will roll, no corny humor

The question was relationships between the superheroes, right?

Key Relationships (imho) for a JLA movie:

Superman-Batman-Wonder Woman:
These are coworkers, essentially, who evolve into "siblings" over the course of the film or franchise. Keep the Id-Ego-Superego type dynamic of a typical Trio. Superman is the naive idealist. Batman is the cold pragmatic and Wonder Woman is the balanced peacemaker. As they realize they have more in common than their mission, and how truly different they are on things like Justice, Truth, Honor, Vengeance and Destiny/Fate, not to mention tactics, they bond out of respect for each other's accopmlishments and wonder at each other's triumph over their circumstances, despite their stark differences.

GL-Flash:
They don't know they're not in a buddy cop movie. Make them both the comedy team, despite their capability, GL (whichever one - can't imagine Hal as 'straight laced.') gets the jokes, but is the straightman, while Flash speaks more freely, poking fun, however slyly, at the order of events and the personas at hand. They bond instantly, which is what makes the fall of one (whichever one) in the climax so dramatic. Add in the playful rivalry here.

Superman-MartianManhunter:
The master becomes the student. At first, MM is the wise one, who guides Superman into this whole team concept, but is Superman who teaches MM to be a superhero rather than just a freedom fighter.

Aquaman-Wonder Woman:
Sexual tension, of course, but Orin is the odd man out, not really willing to join, but finds himself somehow (who knows how) needed anyway. Diana is the one who convinces him to actually be of assistance.

Flash-Batman-GL
The "cops." Batman and Flash doing CSI and Batman and GL doing detective-style work. Very professional respect here, and a certain kinship the other leaguers (farmboys, freedomfighters and royalty) just don't have.

Superman-Batman
The most intense rivalry, these two simply can't seem to agree on anything, at least, not until the final battle, where they agree that they have to go all out. They have the truly competitive rivalry.

Superman-Wonder Woman
The most sibling-like relationship, a very natural playful banter.

Martian Manhunter-Anyone
MM is the advisor. He is the one that asks each leaguer the hard questions, that both highlight their backstory/character development, but make each a better person at a crucial moment. He is also the last to be fully welcomed (not counting Batman, who never is), as it takes the most work to reach out to him and bring him into the 'circle.'
