Just letting everyone know that I recently had an interview with Dragonball cast member Shavon Kirksey, whom you might know better as the new character Emi. If you were curious at all about her characters place in the movie, now you know

Live Action Anime has the exclusive! But here's a snippet of the interview where she talks a it about her character.

LAA: How did you get involved with Dragonball? Was there an audition process or were you called in?

Shavon: Yes, I got a call from my agency telling me to check my email because I have an audition for the Dragonball live action movie. So first I read on tape with the casting director, John Papsidera, then went to callbacks. The very next day my agent and manager called me telling me I booked it and that I am leaving for Mexico soon! I was so excited!! This is my first role in a film and I got to film out of the country! How fun is that?

LAA: Sounds like a lot! In the movie you play a character named Emi. Fans have been curious about this character as she is new to the Dragonball universe. What can you tell us about her role in the film and about her character in general?

Shavon: Well, my character was made up for the film. Emi and Chi Chi are best friends in the movie. We are the “it” girls on our high school campus, and we only like to hang out with other popular kids and the football players, so we can maintain our popular image. Everyone wants to be in our circle but emi wont allow it unless she thinks your cool enough [laughs]. But emi is a cool down to earth girl and she’s very smart, but she just wants everyone to see her as the perfect popular girl.

Oh no...movie hopes went down a smidge with that news...

The bad news it burns.
so will the first 10-15 mins of this movie:csad:

Later in her interview she mentioned that her stuff was shot in Mexico City before the christmas break. Which means in that short time frame they were pretty much just shooting the high school stuff. So hopefully that's all they shot of it, and after they came back in January they just went on.

Which then of course would confirm that the high school stuff doesn't take up that much of the movie at all. If they only shot for 2 weeks, I'd say it's probably 20-30 minutes tops.

So yeah... crosses fingers.

I was trying to remain optimistic about tis movie. But after reading this, I think it is safe to say that this movie will be terrible, even worse than Speed Racer perhaps. This is very disappointing news.

No offense, but I don't think she knows what the hell Dragonball is.

i could have done without this interview...

ugh..

lol

Ehh that does sound horrible

Erm wait for the trailer???

Or is reality finally starting to sink in *aimed at the non-doubters*

They cannot continue to call this film Dragonball. Call it Karate High School Musical or something...but not Dragonball :cmad:

Didnt say the film was gonna be crap but this interview sounds like Megan Foxs character in Transformers

Bah, whats the problem, this high school thing will probably last 10-15 mins top. Theres nothing to worry about.

from the news today with eriko i can see that this highschool has to do with the first part of the buu saga i mean it just feels like it.
goku=teen gohan (gohan has the same naive atitude like goku)
chichi= the popular girl like videl
carry fuller= the blonde jock
emi= the blond girl that is videl's best friend.

from what we know the highschool scene could go like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9dHlpN0CBQ
with a few changes so if you think about it, it's obvious that the buu saga will never be done so wong took mainly the highschool element of that saga. and like the filler characters of the show, these new characters will never be seen again for the rest of the movie
