Reshoots Explained! and Fox anxious to get to sequels!

Not long after the first trailer for "Dragonball" underwhelmed the internet, our friends over at Cinematical discovered that Fox was scheduling reshoots for the big-screen adaptation of the wildly popular anime/manga, presumably to fix a bunch of scenes that looked awful in the teaser. Half true, “Dragonball” actress Jamie Chung told MTV News. They are only re-shooting ONE scene. One very big, very important scene.
“I think it’s just one scene that they’re gonna have to reshoot and it’s the end fight,” Chung said of what they were re-tooling. “I fortunately will not have to go back. I think it’s the big fight between Justin Chatwin and James Marsters.”

That would be between hero Goko and villain Lord Piccolo, names that sound vaguely dirty but apparently aren’t. Chung, on the other hand, plays Chi Chi, which doesn’t sound dirty but is. Got all that? Good, me neither.
“Like, ok, Chi Chi. I heard rumors [that] each character is named based off a fruit. So I was being interviewed by this guy from Japan, and I was like, ‘Is it true? Is Chi Chi a name for a Japanese fruit?’ He was like, ‘No…it’s kinda like an international saying for…’ ‘Oh right, boobs!’” Chung laughed of the unintentional comedy of her character’s name. “There’s no way around it! We shot it in Mexico so my trailer said Chi Chi. It’s a name I can’t seem to shake.”
She’s going to have to get used to it. According to Chung, sequels are already planned for the anime adaptation, with all the main actors signed on for multiple projects.
“We’re signed on for two more,” she said. “Hopefully, I hope the movie does well. There’s lots of places that Fox wants to go with this.”

Which character can we expect to see as a cloud in the sequel?

god, just reading her interview makes me feel dumb. i wouldn't want to actually LISTEN to her do an interview...

...btw, if the movie is as bad as i think it's going to be (or if there is any justice in the world) this movie won't be getting a sequel. then again, they made TWO sequels to Resident Evil. anyway, thanks for the scoop Craig.

Wait, it made YOU feel dumb? It made me feel like THEY...

Also, this movie will get sequels, it's FOX and they want money off of this series. Chances are this fight will be the ultimate highlight of the movie and people will go "We want to see more of this fight! It was epic!" so FOX will be like "SEE! THEY WANT MORE!!!"

Thus we get a ****** DBZ movie then a sequel, etc.

Nice catch, Craig.

Haven;t you seen her video interviews with IGN? She's adorable. :o

they were planning a sequel to superma nreturns. so what?

i really hate when they talk about a sequel before the first movie comes out and plus before they realese an official trailer. ok i would understand if we were 1 month before the realese.

One could assume it's King Piccolo giving birth to Piccolo Jr. or the man commonly known as Piccolo in major DBZ canon.

But this is Fox we are talking about.

Well Fox has taken it to hell, so where else can it go?

Weren't there sequels planned for Speed Racer before it flopped at the BO? That fact that Fox has sequels planned for DBE doesn't surprise me; the question is whether it'll perform well enough to warrant two more movies.

I wonder what was so wrong with the final battle that it had to be reshot. Anyone hear any rumors?

They are going to need to get to at least the third movie for SSJ and the fourth before things really got great in the DB world (Cell saga).

I think they should have started with the Saiyan saga, but that's just me. I'm assuming that will be number 2 (if it ever happens) and 3 would be Frieza.

Which character can we expect to see as a cloud in the sequel?

Frieza form 1: Dressed in armour.

Freiza form 2: Dressed in darker armour.

Freiza final form: Cloud.

SS Goku: Blond highlights and no contacts as it is to confusing for the audience.

And if there was mad buzz for it, a majority of things I hear from people about this film is negative comments.

I love how people act as if Fox is the only studio that wants to make money. All the other studios are in it for the sake of art, of course. Like Sony with Spider-Man 3...clearly a labor of love. :whatever:

you're right...ALL movie studios are money hungry, so Fox isn't alone. however, Fox has clearly shown that it's more willing than any other movie company to exploit their properties for a quick buck. Fox is also the only movie company that has a department that horribly skews and spins world news in order to fit their VERY conservative opinions.

other movie studios might have their moments of greed, but Fox is, by far, the most corrupt and greedy.

Like Sony with Spider-Man 3...clearly a labor of love. :whatever:
Spider-Man 3 was an attempt to give the fans what they wanted. Raimi wasn't a fan of Venom, but everyone wanted to see him.....so Raimi made the mistake of trying to fit Venom in the movie and it just fell apart. yes, they could have let Raimi have a break before doing SM3, but Raimi also could have told them to wait. either way, this was the THIRD movie in the franchise....so at least they made sure the first 2 were done properly.

DB:E, on the other hand, is an attempt by Fox to rake in as much dough as possible, as fast as possible, without doing what is necessary to ensure that most fans and non-fans will like the movie.

needless to say, DB:E is much more a victim of Fox's greed than SM3 was of Sony's greed.

This is just wrong and irrelevant.

Let us keep in mind we are referring to 20th Century Fox Film Corporation which handles most of the films and television things of the Fox Brand. 20th Century Fox Film Corporation is then part of a larger group named, "Fox Entertainment Group". Fox News Channel which you are referring to is part of Fox Entertainment Group and has absolutely nothing to do with 20th Century Fox. Tim Roth runs 20th Century Fox, but again has nothing to do with the news. Fox Entertainment group is part of News Corporation which is ran by none other than Rupert Murdoch.

Your statement is as ridiculous as this:

Universal is also the only movie company that has a department that horribly skews and spins world news in order to fit their VERY liberal opinions. (MSNBC).

Sorry, but Dorky your better than making such ridiculously stupid comments like that :)

You call SM1 as being done properly? With a Green Goblin that looks like a Power Ranger villain? A homely Kirsten Dunst as MJ? A completely wooden Harry Osbourne? An unenthusiatic Spider-Man? Not to mention MJ was introduced before Gwen, with a near-death scene identical to Gwen's death in the comics.

Sony twisted the first film A LOT. And continued to do so throughout the series. And the films were STILL great. If you want a proper adaptation, watch Sin City.

SM3 just goes to show that giving fans what they want doesn't always work.

Fox being a conservative network is completely out of place. Every network spins its news. That's how American news media works, as a filter. Find me an, American news station that work like Al Jazeera and I'll admit I was wrong.

Sorry for getting off topic.

Dorky, we've got to be going back and forth in like 20 different threads lol.

Agreed

I agree also...

i didn't realize having the same brand name of "Fox" and being part of the same corporation means that they had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with each other. could've fooled me....they sure think enough alike.

Your statement is as ridiculous as this:

hey, if it's true then it's true. i know MSNBC is very liberal, so i wouldn't argue against that statement. however, the liberal view isn't as counter productive right now as the conservative view is.

Sorry, but Dorky your better than making such ridiculously stupid comments like that :)
well, if your political views are anything like your buddy Matt's, then i'm not surprised you think that the comment is stupid.

plenty of time for post-production, visionary director with lots of potential, decent writers, great budget, the support and approval of the creator.....despite the creative decisions that were made, the PRODUCTION was properly done.

Sony twisted the first film A LOT. And continued to do so throughout the series. And the films were STILL great. If you want a proper adaptation, watch Sin City.
i actually agree.

SM3 just goes to show that giving fans what they want doesn't always work.
SM3 is an example of what happens when a studio pushes the director to give the audience what they want even if it's not necessarily what the director wants or when he wants to do it.

however, TDK is a great example of what happens when the director wants to give the audience what they want and take their time to make sure that everything is as high quality as it can be.

giving the fans what they want doesn't always work, but when the fans are the ones that keep the series going, especially considering DB's reputation, then i think giving the fans what they want isn't too much to ask. many DB fans wanted a live action movie, but i don't think any of us wanted a rushed, half assed product.

Dorky, we've got to be going back and forth in like 20 different threads lol.
i've gone back and forth with a lot of posters....such is the nature of having a negative opinion, but s'all good.
