Invisible Woman vs. Wolverine

and they say Wolveirne is over-exaggerated, Sue apparently is the best kept secret weapon in the whole universe. nobody could win against her.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken she's still subject to sonic attacks (I think). And I can tell you for sure that any attacks made out of light get through her forcefields. Captain Marvel/Photon/Monica Rambeau turned herself to light and went through her forcefield and knocked her out. Does that seem like a world shattering event to you? If she doesn't make her forcefield air tight by conscious effort gases still get in since she needs to breathe. See?

But dude, if Wolverine can't beat her, nobody can. 'Cause... he's like... Wolverine. And stuff.

Sue once covered wolverine's claws in little force fields and he was not able to cut them, but his constant attack on the force field did worry her because she didn't know how long she could hold them. so, Wolverine CAN get throgh her shield because she will weaken.

still wanted the answer to this, does she ever tire, or run out of energy or whatever?

Eloquently put; like poetry.

She weakens over time and she can be "overloaded," so to speak, but given what she's kept her force fields up under before, it'd probably take Wolverine days and days of constantly battering her force field to get through. Days while Sue just passively stands by inside.

Think of it this way, it is more of a mental strain on her than a physical one, although she would become worn down physically as well. Her big concern is the mental aspect of maintaing the concentration to hold back whatever force may be trying to break through.

Obvisouly the more powerful the force, the more strain is put on her and the shorter duration she can withstand it. I doubt Wolverine's would put her under much stress. Simply for the fact that she can withstand forces far, far greater than those Logan can impose on her shields.

Well, yeah, of course she can run out of energy. It takes energy and focus to maintain a force field for long. But that just means that she would try to finish Wolverine off all the faster. If someone kept punching at your force field, would you just stand there stupidly waiting for him to finish or would you just lop his hands off?

Honestly, she's in much more danger from the "backlash" effect; if someone of the Hulk's strength level punched her force fields with all his might, the mental backlash would probably knock her unconscious. But Wolverine doesn't have that kind of physical power.

so, it sounds like a weaker opponent would have to break her concentration, or catch her off guard, so all telepaths would have an advantage then? and i guess anyone that has super human strength.

invisible force field in his heart, end of fight...how did this go on for 9 pages?

People have been arguing that Wolverine might stand a teeny, tiny chance if all the odds were stacked in his favor and Sue were mentally ******ed and/or asleep.

Yeah but only a few have the physical strength necessary to wear her down quickly. Hulk, Thor, Gladiator, Silver Surfer guys that are that powerful.

No no no, people that have been arguing for Wolverine actually think Sue is ******ed.

IMHO, people still have in their mind the image of the frail and unexperienced Invisible Girl, from way back in the Stan Lee days, when Sue´s job was basically to cook diner and be saved by the team.

Personally, my first contact with the sheer awesomeness that is the new Invisible Woman came when she encased Jean Grey in a bubble - despite her telekinetic opposition- .

I spent the whole issue going:" - WTF? She can do that?"

Word

i think we can finish off the argument like this:

Wolverine has bones coated in metal, plus a healing factor, and can win a fight against fifty highly-trained soldiers by fighting his way through to the last man.

The Invisible Woman can project physically-inpenetrable forcefields and make herself and others invisible, and can wina fight against fifty highly-trained soldiers by putting forcefields round their head and restricting their air supply until they pass out - whilst calmly sipping an Ice Tea.

IW can beat Pheonix now? The host for the oldest entity in the universe?

Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.

THAT is stupid.

Not Phoenix, Jean Grey, there is a difference.

Jean Grey is not always at full power and was not always able to access her full power. During much of the 80s and 90s she was just a telepath/telekine, albeit an skilled one, without the Phoenix Force and didn't call herself the Phoenix.

No, IW beat Jean Grey. She's not always Phoenix-level power, as you well know.

Oh right....not so stupid then.

But I thought Jean always had that level of power in her?

As I understand Phoenix: Endsong, she has, but in the same way that Franklin's still got his universe-creating powers. They can't access them because they're locked away by psychological trauma or mental blocks or whatever.

This thread is pure manna from heaven. I lost count on how many times I bursted laughing out loud. This whole thread is just a big, fat greasy feast for a huge Invisible Woman fanboy like me.

I mean come on, Wolverine? And someone was actually arguing for him? Looooool. I'm amazed how funny it was instead of totally pissing me off. Great job "defending" (she really should need none of that) IW, guys. :D
