Iron Fist now has a director!

Why does he need to be a martial artist? How about someone with acting ability
Yeah, he wears a mask anyway, so it wouldn't be hard to find a double. They do it in movies all the time. But I must admit, it would be awesome to have a real martial artist (who can act) as IF.

I'd say Steel Serpent should be the villain. He is one of Iron Fist's villains and they fought from time to time. He's back in Iron Fist's new ongoing series.

So yeah, I say Steel Serpent!
That was one of my all-time favorite IF scenes ever.

Chiefchirpa, Ok...What caucasian martial artist would you hire as Iron Fist? Please do not say Ray Park, as he will be busy starring as Snake Eyes in a trilogy of G.I. Joe films, if Stephen Sommers G.I. Joe is a good film as well as a box office hit.

Wu Jing would be my choice for Shang Chi as well. You should see SPL (woefully named Killzone in the US) with Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, and Wu Jing to see why Wu Jing should have a role in either Iron Fist or Shang Chi.

Iron Fist, if it ever made, will be done sometime after GI JOE. Then Ray Park is never my first choice, I like Jason Statham more as Danny Rand.

Wu Jing can be a candidate for Shang Chi. But Danny Rand has to be Caucasian, other Iron Fist guy can be Asian.

Danny Rand is not like Peter Parker. There are times when he doesn't wear mask. His power doesn't require any mask to hide.

Well of COURSE not. I'm just saying, the fact that IF is a super-hero and does, at times, wear a mask will make it easier to have a double. Besides, I doubt they'll stick to much of the source material, anyways. Although I truly hope that they do.:csad:

Steve Carr? the person who brought us all those crappy comedy movies that i watched with my 9 year old brother? Films like daddy day care and Are we done yet?? that Steve Carr?

is Iron First going to be a children's comedy or something? i thought it was a martial arts action comic book.

well i hope its better then Dr. Dolittle 2 :o

sigh

I guess i am going to have to add this to my "No faith Marvel film list" :csad: :o

I can understand all the others, but SUPER HERO MOVIE!!
That film's gonna be Oscar material. jk

Anyone who looks like Danny Rand and can act could play the part. Then he puts on his bandana-looking mask and VOILA! Now we have a stunt man with extreme martial arts skill doing the difficult fight stuff.

But hey, Keanu Reeves isn't an MA pro. He was given a crash course in fight choreography for Matrix. And Matt Damon is no martial arts expert, but they made his fights in the Bourne trilogy look good.

So any actor could just hit the gym and get trained for a few minor fights scenes. For the hardcore fights, put on the mask and let a stunt man of comparable size show us some crazy ass fights. And the way movies work now, they could even CGI the lower half of the stunt man's face so you'd think it was the real actor.

Iron Fist doesn't wear his Mask all the time. Check on the current Iron Fist comics, he fights 50/50 with and without the Mask.

This movie needs a change in the crew. Carr hasn't been attached to a single good film, and Ray Park as Danny Rand is a poor choice.

Hey...IRON FIST can die another death in Development Hell. That'd be what...seven?

Throughout his history, Danny typically wears the mask during major battles.

In any case, I can understand that in a movie we'll see him either training, sparring, or having smaller conflicts without his mask on.

For that kinda stuff, ANY actor can be given a crash course in martial arts and then have a choreographed fight scene. Think of all the light saber battles in the new Star Wars movies. NONE of the main characters are experienced in sword fighting, yet the scenes came out great. Think of the Matrix and Bourne trilogies. Both had some amazing fight scenes even though the actors had a bare minimum knowledge of martial arts.

So mask off... use the regular actor. That's fine. Mask on... have the much crazier and faster fight scenes using a stuntman with martial arts experience.

Iron Fist mask is a half face mask.

In real life, it doesn't mask the identity of the user because you can comparably detect anyone's chin and mouth. So unless the action is blurred or the character is always cinematicallty shot from the behind, you know who's doing the part in any action scenes.

Bottom line is talented acting trumps martial artist ability. Any actor can learn choreographed fighting. Jason Statham knew nothing of martial arts before he was an actor and he looks like an expert on camera

Wu-Jing or Tony Jaa for Shang Chi.

Luke Cage=Tyrese gibson if they don't want him to be super massive in size, otherwise I'd vote for Bobby Lashley.

As for Iron Fist himself Gary Daniels, Mark Dacascos,

Iron Fist - Ray Park.
Misty Knight - Gabrielle Union.
Shang-Chi - Tony Jaa.
Fu Manchu - Christopher Lee.
The Master - Chow-Yun Fat.
K'um L'um - Voice of Lawrence Fishburne.
