"This past weekend at Chicago Comic-Con Park was asked about his dream role…
"I actually want to be Danny Rand – I want to be Iron Fist, I want to do it, I want to have an excuse to take my top off and show off my abs. Or, take my top off and work to get my abs back that I used to have when I was 19."
Parks quotes were said jokingly, but his desire to still do the IRON FIST movie seems real. When Park was originally slated to do just that back in 2001, the film would’ve been produced by Artisan Entertainment and directed by Kurt Wong. The rights have now reverted back to Marvel, who Park says will likely partner Iron Fist with fellow Hero for Hire Luke Cage."

So, this could be one of the best super hero movies ever. Ray Park could totally pull off this character. I would LOVE for this to happen. It really needs to be made. Especially since it's back with Marvel. It would be done properly and well made. I'm glad Ray Park still wants to do the role. He'd make the movie amazing.

What do you guys think about this? I'm really into the newer Iron Fist comics. :D

I have never liked the idea of Ray Park playing Iron-Fist, fantastic martial artist but the guy can't act, his lines in X-Men all sound flat. He's fine for supporting characters as his skills make up for his lack of acting chops, but to carry a movie, I doubt it would work out well. I would prefer they got a real actor and trained him. Keanu Reeves did well with the martial arts in the 3 Matrix movies.

Haven't read Iron Fist for years, but I used to love them as a kid. As for Ray Parks in the role? I don't know. He's a great martial artist, that's for sure, but what about his acting? And his look? Granted, I don't think I've ever seen him without heavy makeup (Star Wars Episode I, X-Men, G.I. Joe), but he never really seemed all that handsome to me. Personally, I'd cast Marc Dacascos (Brotherhood Of The Wolf, Only The Strong, The Crow: Stairway To Heaven). Just as good a martial artist and a very handsome man.

As for who should play Luke Cage/Power Man? Ving Rhames maybe? Or Michael Clark Duncan? Except he played the Kingpin in Dare Devil, so there might be some continuity issues.

Eh, he could do the stunts. But I don't know how well he can act. He's better for the stunts.

Though I'd kill for a Luke Cage & Iron Fist movie.

Ray Park is not going to be Iron Fist.

Im also not fond of a Luke Cage and Iron Fist buddy action/comedy, Immortal Iron Fist is awesome, unique, and pretty wild in comparison to what we have seen in other superhero flicks.

Well he's never starred in a main character role, so I'm not shocked that he would still want to play Rand after being attached after all these years. I know he's a really long shot from playing the role though.

If he doesn't get the main role, Marvel should atleast throw him a bone by letting him do the stunts.

How come not? Has Marvel denounced this, or are you just saying that because you wouldn't want it to happen?

If he doesn't get the role then yeah, he should atleast get to do the stunts. He's always the awesome character in every movie he does. I think he deserves a chance to star in one movie, especially a character he's a fan of. :woot:

I don't think I want him as danny. But I think he be good for the stunts.
I think luke cage and iron fist need solo flicks before they get a team up.

I definitely agree with the concept of Ray Park as Iron Fist in a...Power Man & Iron Fist film. I would rather see the team up first, then their individual films. Power Man & Iron Fist could be the superhero equivellent to...Lethal Weapon. I would like to see...Tyrese as Luke Cage Power Man. The Daughters Of The Dragon should be in this as well. Jessica Biel could be Colleen Wing, and Aunjenue Ellis would be perfect as Misty Knight. The film should be set in Time Square of course, even if it isn't set in the 70's as it should be. Diamondback should be the villain. and he could be played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. There should be ninja, EEEEEvil cultists and Master Khan played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.

No thanks to Ray Park. We need an actor.

Well you don't really know how well he can act, as he never talks in any of the movies he's done. Except those three lines he said as Toad.

And I'd expect alot of the movie to be fighting anyways :D

He's going to appear in Heroes, maybe he'll actually talk. lol. It's odd everywhere else this is on the web people love the idea of him as Iron Fist, but here everyone doesn't, aside from Gatchamanjp.

I would like to see him as Iron Fist. I don't know why so many people are hating on this. We have never been able to see him act act before. And from what I understand he is damn good as Snakeeyes which doesn't talk. Not talking and making the character amazing is a hard thing.

I agree. Yeah I don't see why people are jumping to conclusions that he's not fit for the role. Every character he's played is very distinguishable. All the body movements are different for each character. He's got true talent.

Hopefully he'll have some lines in Heroes and we'll be able to tell if he can act decent. I'd rather see Ray Park be Iron Fist than someone like Justin Timberlake :hehe: But seriously, He probably knows the character well, if he's a fan as he says he is. :D

I saw a clip of his acting on heroes and he performed well enough that i wouldn't mind him playing the Iron Fist. Even with a sub par performance
he'll give us great action scenes.

I don't think anyone is disputing his talent for the body movements, it's just , speaking for myself, I find his acting suspect.
He only had a few lines in X-Men, and every one of them sounded off to me, the delivery was not good at all. His other two major roles, Phantom Menace and GI Joe were non-speaking roles. Maybe he's not getting the speaking roles because he's not so good at the acting, which brings us to heroes...

Yeah, i will always give someone the benefit of the cdoubt , and I'm looking forward to seeing him in Heroes, but I'm expecting something similar to X-Men, more a supporting role that will be more focused on his martial arts talents.
But then , who knows, maybe the guy has got acting lessons and is better these days, it would be a very good idea for him to get some lessons.
But, if it's on a par with his X-Men delivery in Heroes, or a little better, that's fine, it won't bother me, it doesn't really bother me in X-Men as it's just a few lines, but with something like Iron-Fist it's a leading role and bad acting would be a detriment to the whole movie.

I've only read Iron-Fist popping up in a few comics here and there over the years, but I care because I have a bugbear about non-actors getting major roles in movies because of their physicality, for instance I would not have liked a wrestler like Triple H to get ahold of Thor like some folk on the net did.
Real actors can be trained or made up to look or fight a certain way, movies are the art of illusion, but no amount of illusion can cover up bad acting.

I'm sure he'll be just fine in Heroes, at least it will give us more of an idea how good he is nowadays. X-Men was almost 10yrs ago and i don't know of anything else he has had a speaking part in.

I'd love to see Ray get a shot as Iron Fist, the dude has such a unique charisma. I thought he was great in X-Men....others must have agreed as after the movie Toad in the comics was drastically changed to be more like his version.

Personally I'm not against him if he auditions well for it. I think that most people would rather have a name that could sell. I too agree that we haven't seen him act, so it's not like he has a history of screwing up roles. His role with the most lines was Toad, and he didn't have many lines there. I still think he's a longshot though, because if the movie is an Iron Fist movie the studio will probably search for a bigger name. If he shows up in an Avengers movie, or Heroes for Hire movie, then Park has a better chance since he wouldn't have to carry the movie as the lead character.

I really, really like the bit where he does the little taunting dance in front of Jean Grey before turning on her, he improvised that himself, so major props to him for that. His facial expressions and physical timing is spot on, it's just his line delivery that sounds off to me. His first line 'Weren't you supposed to bring someone back with you?' just sounds terrible, it's a simple line but sounds like someone in a school play saying it.
edit: Fair play to the guy, he landed the role of Darth Maul and Toad for his martial arts skills and wasn't a trained actor, but going by that line I don't think he's a natural and it's kind of telling that he's not had any speaking roles in the 10yrs hence, until now in the upcoming Heroes.
Maybe he's improved since then, we'll see in Heroes.

BTW has anyone seen Fanboys? How good was he in that?

So someone has given him a speaking role, assuming he's playing himself there? Even if he isn't playing a character it still takes skill to read lines off a script and have them sound natural, would be interested in seeing that.

Actually, he's playing a security guard for Skywalker Ranch. My friend watched it a couple of weeks ago. I didn't think to ask him how his acting was though. I haven't seen it yet.I've been wanting to for awhile . :D

I'm waiting to see how he does on Heroes..... id love him for the Stunt Double though.

I don't know why, but for some reason I can't get Luke Goss out of my head for the role of Danny Rand.
