Iron Man 2 Iron Man armor - Official Discussion Thread

To be fair... he does seem to be wearing a similar blue sheath when he suits up for his first mission in the movie. That's as close to Extremis we will ever get and thank god for that!
1) He just wears something under the clothes
2) How do you know? (part in bold)
yeah but i think some people want the armor flying around telepathically. i dont want that but i do want armor assembly to be more streamlined . and i would like to see the armor to be easier to get out of

PS is phils deep diving suit supposed to have 3 repulsors on each arm
I think that they are lights or something?

Favreau said it himself that he wants to keep things in the realm of plausibility.
The bone marrow thing rubbed him in the wrong way. He didn't like it.

That's why I said Extremis is for another director with another vision in films down the road.

and i like i said earlier i could see that if the movie was placed in the near future somewhere around 2025 or whenever MGS4 takes place.

extremeis is not entirely implausible in this day and age but maybe in the near future

Remember that they are now introducing Captain America and Thor. Hulk is already up there and sooner or later they will all come together in an Avengers film. You will see Downey next to a Scandinavian god (Hope he doesnt get too old by then to play the character). So where do we draw the line with the realism thing? For example, Tony survived that crash with the Mark I. The suit was blown to pieces and he was left burried in the sand. Pretty unrealistic.

So i think that the ironman movie is a bit realistic but not so much. I wouldn't expect the more wild parts of the mythos to appear in the movie, but you cant cut everything out because it wont work.

And i said in my earlier posts, i thought that storing the undersheath in Tony's bone marrow is disgusting and far fetched. And the healing factor is just not what Ironman is about. They made it too hax and far fetched. But what they could incorporate from Extremis, are the design of the suit, and the way he puts it on. Dont tell me that a big magnetic field that makes the pieces float would be such a stretch. It would be freaking cool!

As long as they dont dilute the character with stupid X-men powers and they dont take things way too far, i am all for it!

well i am not talking now i am talk after Jon Favreau

I think the suits a little more bulky then the first, there are some changes to the suit from pics ive seen. Not that massive of changes. Still an amazing suit

yeah it looked like he added some extra armor to the chest plate

I havent seen any pics of the new suit besides those pics of Downey eating on that huge doughnut in LA, so i suppose thats your reference. The suit looked very odd in those pics. The chest especially was ghastly!

It looked meh in those pics. The original mark 3 looked sleaker. Anyway, i am starving for more pics. Just one pic would be enough for me to pass the summer and autumn.
So i was thinking of the Extremis suiting up way. Its the coolest thing ever! They could show us a cool suit up where Tony is just standing and pieces stick on him and make the suit, and later in the film, he could do it while walking. Imagine him walking as if nothing happens and the suit pieces flying on him. Of course when they stick on, there should be a lock mechanism, that each piece moves and locks in place. So i suppose a small "transformation" would be in order. Something like the panel test he did on the Mark 2 if you remember.

Extremis is totaly plausible in the universe they are creating. will we see it happen. No, but it makes as much since as Bruce banner turning into the Hulk or an imortal crossing a giant rainbow to get to earth. If you check out the interviews with warren ellis you would realise that its not as far fetched as it may seem.I however would like to see Tony hook up to his suit like in the Ultimate U. Sockets directly in his skin

If they were gonna do that(and I am not completely opposed to it) then I'd imagine Tony first trying that out on a life-like dummy or cadaver(I know, kinda gross) of some sort. The first test seems to be a success, but when he removes the armor the life-like dummy or cadaver(eww, again) is really messed up due to the armor assembling on it with too much force. The Tony could say something like "Glad I decided not to play test dummy this time". Then he tweaks it some more to get to the point where the armor can assemble remotely on the wearer w/o killing the wearer in the process.

That would be very funny. Reminds me of his flight tests in IM. The part where he is launched to the wall behind him is hilarious!

As for the transformation, i dunno, i'd really like the pieces to stick on him and then deploy, lock, move, like how the transformers ....well... transform in the movies. Of course not to that extent.

he could use one of the ballistic gel dummy's with bones inside like the mythbusters use all the time. and the skull could be all cracked.

and like i said the only thing about extremis that is far fetched is the bone marrow thing

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

they also have ones that bleed now. i saw it on deadliest warrior

So what does what everyone think of the Mark 3.5?. I liked the original chest plate. This one looks plastic and fake*shock!*

They weeded out Extremis in the books and I don't think it's coming back. Why would they add it to a movie later? Extremis had its brief run, now it's back to the basics for good.

I think he still suits up like that, despite losing the extremis superpowers. BTW, did the design of the suit change now that extremis is over? I dont think so, but realistically it should because it was so sleak and thin because half the systems were incorporated in the undersheath and tony's techno brain.
In any case its a cool desing.

Yes, the chest plate does look plastic. I ve stated it in other threads, so one more time in thisl: I dont like this new suit. Cheesy as hell.

Well you got to admit that the original looked plastic too, probably because it IS. In action it will look better.

Agreed. They went back and CGI'd the heck out of the armor in post production to make it look more metallic.
