Iron Man 2 Iron Man armor - Official Discussion Thread

^^ It's actually not a different suit. It's a feature that was in the suit in the comics. Iron fought the Sub-Mariner in issue #120 of Invincible Iron Man, and since he was under water, he had these small sockes that blocked water from getting in his eyes.

I would imagine that his suit is already sealed off. I mean, he tried to break the record for fixed wing flight, so he would need breathing aparatus. Notice that his suit froze, but his eyes didnt etc. So i think that it is already sealed.

I would love to see some Extremis **** in there were he is connected to the armor but i hope they save that for the third one after almost dieing at the hands of the mandarin tony knows he needs to be one with the suit. This also makes him one of the most powerfull characters in the Marvel U. I know alot of people are resistent to this but its part of his Evolution as a hero

I wouldn't mind that at all. If fans are going to complain about that it would be funny since I never heard much complaining about the first film taking out the folding factor of his armor from the comics. How it can fold to fit into his briefcase.

That makes me think of one problem though for future films. What if he's hundreds or thousands of miles away from his home, which has the machine that helps him put on and take off his armor and some serious stuff goes down? I wonder if Favreau has any plans to rectify that.

That's what the extremist can be used for...
Hell in World War Hulk ... HE CAN CONTROL IT WITH HIS MIND!

Imagine Stark/RDJ going, "There's no place like home... There is no place like home..."
Somewhere in Malibu, the armor comes to life ....

Favreau has commented on Extremis at Con 2007:

Q: Does the Extremis [from Warren Ellis' IRON MAN run] come in at all in the IRON MAN movie?

A: Favreau said that in the movie they will start with the Mach I suit and move on from that. They aren't going to move toward armor that can telekinetically respond to Tony Stark or organically appear from out of his bone marrow. They want to present an armored suit that is plausible and realistic in the movie.

Yeah, I agree with Favs here. Leave something like Extremis for another director with a new interpretation down the line.

Oh yeah, that's right! Forgot about that for a moment.

In the Busiek/Perez Avengers comics, Tony said his eye holes had lenses that would automatically slide over and seal up his face plate if he hit water. So it kind of kept with the illusion that his eye holes weren't sealed when he was on dry land. But take that for what you will.

In the movie, they've clearly gone with a fully functional and closed off helmet.

And that is the best idea, IMO. We know now that the rigors of supersonic flight(or really anything going over 100MPH) would require that. That wasn't so obvious way back in the day on a kids comic book.

If you read Jon's newest post on twitter from three hours ago, it says
"Approved first photo for release. I'll let you know when it will run and post a link here when it's up. Stay tuned...

Wonder what it is!

I'm hoping its the armor ,Probaly not though it'll probaly be a promo of all the characters (sans armour) :(

By the way anyone else think that War Machine's Armour will be the military's answer to Ironman??

Well, even if it isn't and Iron Man photo, I'll still be happy with what we got. I mean, atleast we are getting something.

thats it mako you gave me an idea for an army style war machine all olive drab and s**t

Personally i hope we dont get the Batman syndrome where he ends up with a different suit in every film, however i do understand upgrading his armor is an important part to the character so i would essentially like to see the same armor just it being more capable of doing stuff if that makes sense :P

But similar to the batman suit. Its better for filming to upgrade the suit. Certainly Cloony's suit was easier to move around in then Keatons costume. Also Ironman really is known for his multiple suits. I think he should get a new suit every movie.

Fravreau says, the new suit will be lighter to allow for more movement....
sounds familiar...

Tony: I need to be faster ... more flexible...

Jarvis: You want to be able to turn your head...
Tony: Sure would make backing out of the driveway easier

Jarvis: ... Kevlar bi-weave techno babble... now there is a trade off... separation of the plates make you vulnerable to knives and gunfire...
