Just FYI, I recently attended Paramount's un-veiling of the Transformers HD-DVD set on their studio lot (which was followed by lunch with Peter Cullen ;) ).

At the end of it, we were shown the HD trailer for the Iron Man movie. They informed those in attendance that they were hoping that Iron Man would be their signature HD-DVD release for Paramount in 2008, much like Transformers is this year. It will either be that or Indiana Jones.

The excitement and faith in Iron Man seemed to run pretty high. Especially if they make it their signature release over their own franchise, considering that they are mainly just Iron Man's major distributor.

The gist of the presentation seemed to be that Paramount is firmly behind HD-DVD at the moment. While some are saying that HD-DVD is already dying to BLU-RAY. Well I hope that's not the case.

I'll wait for the Blu-Ray release in '09. ;)

I would say that if this deal helps HD-DVD then Toshiba & Microsoft will pay Paramount & Dreamworks to stay HD-DVD exclusive. Just because the contract is a limited time only does not mean that it can not be extended & it will if in the end this deal helps HD-DVD. Time will tell on that. You may never see a Blu-Ray release.

All the X-BOX 360's that were bought with Halo 3 are essentially HD players for these things.

Only for those willing to shell out another $180. And so far, that hasn't been a whole lot of 360 owners.

HD-DVD players are going on sale for as low as $100 till X-mas. And it is a player that plays reguler DVD's at a higher resolution. Oh, and you get 5 free movies.

Now, whats this about blue-ray beating HD-DVD? They didn't drop their price fast enough, PS3 is a dud, and two major studios recently got behind HD-DVD. Blue-ray isn't going to win crap if people still have to pay over $300 to get a decent player.

Well again, Paramount is behind HD-DVD due to higher accessibility. So they obviously see a future in HD-DVD, especially if they are planning a big release for Iron Man.

damn it put it on blue ray immedietly!

I'm just gonna have to forget all this crap and go and buy a dual player, cause this is getting riddiculous!
