Is anybody else TOTALLY confused? (SPOILERS!)

Okay, so I read spoilers, cause I can't help myself. I'm an addict. Haha.

So the spoilers say Maxwell Lord and Talia Al Ghul are the villains of the Justice League film, and the film deals with the OMACs and Batman spying on the League. Well, that makes sense. Obviously they are combining the OMAC storyline (of which Maxwell was the villain) with the Tower of Bable storyline (of which Talia was a part of). Now, my CONFUSION is due to...

despite their presence being lifted directly from the comic source material

Is anybody else totally confused as to why the screenwriters thought these two villains would be interesting for a Justice League movie? Unless they end up being EXTREMELY well written, deeply drawn characters, I find them to be an odd choice. They have ZERO audience recognition. Only fanboys will know who they are. I'm not saying they are bad characters. I'm not. I'm merely saying it's an extremely odd choice for villains. No one could of predicted it. If you knew a JL movie was being made, everybody would of immediately said "DARKSEID! BRAINIAC! etc."

Though the OMAC thing can work out, I'm still skeptical. I agree with Greg. When I think "Justice League," I think massive world crisis. I think alien invasion, giant robots gone crazy, every supervillain united.

That's what a JL movie should have.

But weren't Toad and Saber tooth pretty main villains, even if they weren't Magneto was there and he is pretty much the big villain of the X-men comics/toons aside from Apocalypse.

there are 4 big x men villains and yes magneto is one of them but again in the spoilers it says JL will have a big villain pulling the strings.

Anyhow, I too agree that OMACs are a bad idea for a first movie. The plot of this movie sounds like a sequel. They should've used white martians for the original. It is a good way to unite the heroes. The villain does not require much development, so you can focus on the league, and because they can appear as normal people you save money on effects.

The only people who would think that are the hardcore fans. The mainstream audience isn't really gonna be familiar with any of the league's big villains, so Talia and Lord are really as good as any of them in that sense.

I think the villains were stuck with to keep this film faithful to the comics. Lord was the villain of THE OMAC PROJECT, and Talia was key to TOWER OF BABEL, along with Ra's, which this script is clearly based on. Though I would much prefer to see someone like Vandal Savage in their role.

i think they're reserving Darkseid for future projects-- could be JL sequels or even in the Superman sequel.

i dont think Lord or Talia are too small fry for the JL. if anything they represent the smarts and the craftiness of villains that are worthy of the JL, the OMACs have always been the hired muscle. i mean how many times can you use Lex Luthor or The Joker?

of course they could've gone with Gorilla Grond but then a talking monkey would be even more ridiculous for the first live action JL movie that is desperately trying to be taken seriously.

To me, I think this movie is set in the future...not future, future, but more like...ten years later or so, just because of the two Flashes and how [BLACKOUT]Barry Allen dies and a new Flash, Wally West, joins the ranks of the Justice League[/BLACKOUT], so I'm guessing there could be some things that are the same, just as Talia Al Ghul being a villain to get some "revenge" from Batman; due to her father's death.

I'm sure many people won't even care about the villains. They will be there to see all these heroes together in one movie.

This first movie is primaly about the heroes, just like Batman Begins was about Batman. That will be the movies weak spot, but I don't think people will notice. Jack Nicholsons Joker in Batman was far far far better then the BB villains, even with the creative twists of the character. A Superheromovie can be very good if the Hero is portrayed good, but it needs focus on both heroes and villains to be truly awesome.

I'm honestly a bit disapointed due to the unknown villains in this movie, but then again since one of the heroes will become a villain I'm not so upset. Because one of the main villains will be one of the JL members, although the person is acting under "the influence".

I'm thinking yes with the rumors of how Batman thinks Ra's is behind whatever's going on in the movie.

Just keep in mind, it's a different universe.
