Great examples that prove my complaint. Wolverine? Spiderman? who else could they choose? Do you get my point?
I'm confused. Are you saying they should've made Wolvie or Spidey gay in the Ultimate Universe? Or are you saying they should be made retroactively gay in the 616 universe?

They are but they aren't ... wha?

There not becuase Super strength is obviously not homosexuality, but when you retcon something it could be powers or sexuality. Thats how they are the same smart ass.:oldrazz: :whatever:

Well why isnt Green Lantern gay, I mean there are 4 earth Green Lanterns and not one is gay, neither is Superman, or Batman, or Flash, or Wonder Women, I dont think that DC even has a B-lister that is gay. Wiccan and Hulkling are pretty much a-listers when you talk about teens in the Marvel Universe, what about DC?

I am saying that if they want to talk about this they should do it with a character that will matter to the greatest number of people and do it in the regular continuity.

Have the strength of Character to stand up for something, not kind-of sort-of do it. That is my point. Thank you for asking for clarity. I am not getting my idea across well, but it is a fundamental issue for both Marvel and DC when they take on anything -- stick with it. If you are going to kill off Hal Jordan, leave him dead. If you want to address homosexuality, then do it with a character that will show you support it, not slough off the discussion to a secondary character.

Reconning a power is not the same. You don't retcon that. You write it as they are "coming out" not a retcon ... oh never mind.

Wolverine? Spiderman? DareDevil? If it is an important issue, then do it right. With a story that matters, with a character that matters. Yesh.:whatever: "I think it is okay for Marvel to screw it up because DC doesn't have one at all." Yesh. :whatever:

No ****, they didnt retcon Colossus to be gay, but they have retconned the **** out of Superman. I was just trying to illustrate how the 2 are different but could be the same depending on the topic.

At last. This is not a topic you retcon. This is not an ability that you change because another company suddenly has a character that intimidates you.

Sexual orientation deals with a variety of issues and impacts people in huge ways. It impacts the individual, their family, their friends and is a powerful and meaningful discovery and life changing event.

Trying to slag DC to distract from Marvel only makes it worse. If Marvel really wanted to make this a meaningful discussion not a money grab ... Captain America? Iron Man? please. Colossus? Come on.

In your opinion Colossus, Hulkling and Wiccan dont matter but to many they do. Young Avengers is one of the best comics out today. Marvel is doing it right, 2 new young characters dealing with coming out, nothings retconned its all good story telling, dont tell me you think Young Avengers is bad writing. To make Wolverine, Spider-Man, or Daredevil gay, Marvel would have to retcon ****, and that would be the wrong way. Colossus matters just as much as somebody like Green Arrow (who dealt with drugs).

If Colossus doesnt matter how is it a money grabber, it doesnt even seem like you read Ultimate X-Men or Young Avengers, or Runaways. Cause they deal with all those issues. Why do you feel it needs to be the biggest star Marvel or DC has, have to be gay? I just dont get you or your logic.

Colossus isnt secondary, your trippin.

But there lies the problem. Spider-Man and all the old school A-listers have been straight since the 1960s. You can't retroactively make them gay. Hell, you just said the way to do it right is to make them gay from the beginning. That means they need to introduce new gay characters, and put them on the front lines.

That would be Wiccan and Hulkling. Marvel is trying to make the Young Avengers into the next big thing. They're gaining steam pretty damn quickly, as far as new teenage superheroes go. A few years from now, these characters could be huge. This isn't Marvel's decision; it's up to readers (and their money) to make newly introduced gay characters popular.

Don't bash Marvel for side-stepping homosexuality. They've been introducing them in droves for the past few years.

You don't get it. You don't retcon it. You have them realize they are gay and come out. The real experience for many homosexuals.

To compare Colossus and the Green Arrow/Green Lantern arcs, well that just shows you don't understand what I am saying. Not even in the same realm of dialogue creation. Go ask your local store for the collected work and read it. Read the commentaries from newspaper and find out why DC said nuts to the code.

Reality. Do it right and do it with a character that is important. Sorry. Colossus ... he just isn't the right guy. And in an alternate universe ... oy.

Yea pretty much every team in marvel has a gay character.

And to build off what your saying Manic, For the newer comic generation the Ultimate Universe is regular continuity.

Read my comments above. Are they doing it because the issue matters or to make money. That is my problem with this approach. Not the issue. The approach.

And as I posted above, to do it right they maybe should use an A-lister like Peter or Tony. It is that important of an issue for society at the moment.

Oy. Do you realize that your first comment pretty much proves my point.

Marvel Meeting Room.

"Hey. We have this great idea for a new team. We have the leader, the loner, the beast, what did we miss?"

"The Gay guy!"

Oy.

So after all thses years that Spider-Man has been with Gwen Stacy, and Mary Jane or Wolverine basically boning women for the past 80 years (In comic time) or Colossus being in love with Kitty, all of a sudden they're just gonna say "hey I'm gay" that would be so out of character its not even remotely funny.

Ask 20 people on the street to name a comic book character.

I love the big steel man, but truly. You think he isn't secondary. I am reacting not because they choose him and I like him. I am reacting because he is not even a b-lister man. Sorry.

But you can't do it with Peter or Tony. Tony is a notorious womanizer, and Peter is practically attached to Mary-Jane's va-jay-jay. The moment Marvel makes those two gay is the moment I really start accusing them of doing it to make money.

And yet that is what a great number of men who are gay actually go through. Do you know anybody who is gay? Just curious. Have you heard or read about men/women who are married with kids and then come out?

That doesnt prove your point at all, it is very much like the real world there are more gay people in this world then you seem to realize, and not every gay person has such a hard time dealing with coming out of the closet, which is also very similar to real life. Some gay people come out in there teens with no hesitation, some gay people go through much more, and takes them years to come out or they never do. You missed my point totally, your trying to take my words and twist them for your benefit.

I can see that point and concede it. But do you see what I am saying? Colossus? Really? He is the one to go with?

Yes. You are right. There are a great many people who go through that experience in different ways.

But can you see what I am saying about your comment?

My question to you is why Spider-Man, why Wolverine, cause they are the most popular, thats just STUPID, neither of them have ever shown any signs of homosexuality. Ultimate Colossus did from the beginning, so apperently you dont know what your talking about, some fans only read the Ultimate line, that is regular continuity for them. I really dont know what your obsession with gay characters having to be the bissest stars and only in the 616 universe.

I can understand that you interpreted it wrong, but I dont really get what your saying or your point of view.
