Yeah, the official synopsis even says Doom will be in it.

What is he up too? Is he going to cause chaos again?

IF the film follows the plots by Lee and Kirby, he will syphon off the Surfer's Power Cosmic, an event that would be a bit backwards from the timeline in the comics. The Silver Surfer first appears in what is known as the Galactus trilogy in FF #48-50 which happens at the time when Doom is recuperating from his defeat at the hands of the Thing in FF#40. Doom doesn't encounter the Silver Surfer until after Galactus exiles him to Earth as punishment for siding with the human race. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the movie.

Doom can't come back as he was never there.

The line: "I was intrigued by the effect of your Cosmic Storm on my robotic replica..." must be in this film.

you make it seem that they need to fallow that outline, and well they don't. i mean where is the watcher i haven't heard anything about him in the movie, and he did help the FF when the met the big G.

I hope so. I hope he steals Surfers powers like he did for a bit in the comics.

how did he manage that?

sack of pennies to the face... then he stole the magic SS watch.... very good comic story... one of the best.... specially when Doom has sex with SS girlfriend..... crazy

Are you joking?

nope... that comic realy defined the term "polishing one's pole"....

kind of sucks now, back in the day, you could see the SS package..... now he's hung like Tori Spelling.....

Victor Von Doom, the very reason that other films (ref: Incredibles, Sky High) have the classic "super-villian speech" to refer to...whose noble demeanor evidences his lofty intent was portrayed as a corporate lackey answering to a Board. In the film about him, his "super-villian speech" consisted of "This'll be fun!" WTF?

"Marco...Polo"

"Why the long face?"

These things evidence the vision (or the lack of) of the Director.

DOOM will not be found here.

Uh, I'm not sure if Tim Story had a whole lot of control over the first film. You can't always put everything on him. What goes into one movie is a lot more than one man's opinion, yet when things go good or bad, all the rewards and blames go straight to the director, which to me, is strange.

How right you are...the only lines of dialogue that I liked was his rant when he got really deep voiced and yelled at Richards, I liked the "I've always wanted power" dialogue and the only lines I liked once he became Doom was the "That's not like you Reed...after all we're both doctors" and the "Fate giving us these powers so we could refuse their gifts" Other than that, you could get rid of the rest dialogue....

However, even if Doom's dialogue is not comic book perfection of what he actual talks like...I still would like to see some "Doom doesn't do this or that" in the 3rd person, talks of him being better than Richards, yelling Richards, etc....I can't imagine his dialogue getting worse than in the first one so there is hope...just look at all the good news so far from this movie...more good so far than bad

Honestly, that was basically Doom's first attempt at being Doom, and he was soundly thrashed. He doesn't know how to be royalty yet, he has to usurp some people first before he starts to get REALLY insane.

Even among Marvel writers, there are some that just don't have a good handle on his dialogue. Take a look at my signature below (it comes from a story by Priest) and you can see why. Bendis, for example, gets praised for using very realistic dialogue (which I think he works to death sometimes) but I suspect he would have a problem with the character (heck, I've seen his blogs and the guy's a terrible speller :woot: ).

As for "yelling" at Richards, I hope they keep that to a minimum. After all, that would be something that he would avoid, just to show that at least he is in control. Even though there are large parts of "Unthinkable" that I don't particularly care for, Mark Waid does an excellent job of having Doom voice exactly what it is about Reed that ticks him off. It is done very calmly and deliberately and not in the third person.

I think the problem Julian McMahon had was the voice. Doom doesn't have a whinny little voice. Doom is Doom! He has the voice of a great warrior. I thought the voice was going to change when he started wearing the mask and when he had all this Dr. Doom get-up and first appeared with it. I said to myself: "now THIS is Dr. Doom!". But then he started talking and it was like the funniest thing ever. Like Dr. Doom had borrowed the voice of the most wimpy nerd ever.
