Is anyone else sick of this dark reign thing already I feel like its gonna get stupid as hell in the coming months. Norman is gonna be in more comics than Wolvy pretty soon. and honestly he's one of the least threatening villains in the Marvel Universe unless he's fight Spider-man and last time they did fight in Spidery in the NWTD arc Spidey took him out with ease. Dark Reign would be a better concept if it was just a figure head and the Red Skull or Dr.Doom was secretly behind it. The only interesting thing so far about Dark Reign is who's behind that door. can we just skip this and get to the part where Doom takes he land and Namor takes the sea. that plan is much better than the Green Goblin rules the world look at his secret evil plans... wait you basically rule the world you're suppose to stop there if you want to rule the world.
This is gonna be like every other big event nothing happens that they couldn't have done anyways, a loved character dies, Nick Fury Shows up.. or is it a LMD.

I respectfully disagree. Norman Osborn should have always been a Lex Luthor type villain, and Dark Reign will make it happen.

Red Skull and Dr. Doom, especially Doom, definitely Doom, have been playing the mastermind shtick for so long, having someone else do it is a breath of fresh air. At least it was build up, and not just happened out of nowhere.

Read Ellis' Thunderbolts and then tell me that Norman isn't a threatening character.

who do you think is behind that door?

I wish they showed who it was. This is a stupid mystery

It really isn't. The Sentry is Norman's bodyguard and is serving on his Avengers with Ares. It's pretty damn obvious that the Sentry is the one behind the door.

I like how everyone calls Norman a Lex ripoff, but Lex was the one ripping off the Kingpin not so many years ago.

I agree... I hope to see Norman Osborn become an evil mastermind :cwink:
(if u get what i mean...)

How so? I've always seen Lex as having a much larger scope than the Kingpin.

Plus, he's not fat. :oldrazz:

But back on topic: I'm already a little sick of Norman. I don't think it's a bad direction for him to twist Marvel's USA around a bit, but I'm not a huge fan of the character himself and he's gone from being easily ignorable in Thunderbolts to everywhere all the time. I'll probably get used to him, but right now I'm a little tired of him.

Lex was a mad scientist. He built things. He didn't buy buildings and stocks. He wasn't some mad financier. Then Byrne came along and Luthor turned into the Kingpin.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

I didn't see that as a ripoff of the Kingpin, I just saw it as more of a Machiavellian take on Lex. Besides, the mad scientist Lex sucks giant, stinky ass.

I for one, am extremely excited about Norman Osborn's new high position in the world. It's about damn time one of Spidey's villains became a real threat to the MU instead of just to spidey. Having Norman as king of the world opens a plethora of possibilities between him and spider-man. If Marvel pulls this off right, this could quite possibly be the greatest Spiderman/Green Goblin story ever. This alone could re-energize spiderman's book and make the BND naysayers (like myself) believers again. Its the perfect setup: Spiderman, the everyman, "down on his luck" underdog who's hunted by the law VS. Norman Osborn, the man who has everything and is king of the world. This is exactly the kind of challenge spiderman needs to finally prove himself to everyone in the MU.

Why would Norman being a threat to the Marvel universe at large make any difference to people who hated BND? They're two totally separate things.

^^^
Agreed its not like they'll make Spider-Man fight him. He's going to be more of an Avengers especially Tony Stark's enemy way more than Spidey's

He's pretty much everybody's enemy, it seems. He's turning up all over the place. He just arrested Bethany McCabe in War Machine #1.

Well if Batman has Prep Time then Norman Osbborn has some kind of Opportunist Time.

Yeah well, at the end of the day, he's still Spidey's villain 1st, Marvel's Lex 2nd. You think his Spidey obsession will let him get over Web-Head? Pish Posh!

Now, if Norman still knew Spidey's secret identity AND had his power over the government, THAT would be interesting!

I'm sure they'll deal with the Norman/Peter conflict in Spider-Man's comics.

I think Normans more scary than Lex right now because his actually insane. Giving power over to a super villain is one thing but giving it to a mental unstable one is another.

I think everyone's scarier than Lex since Lex went back to that purple and green suit. I swear to Bog, someone needs to explain to the people at DC that Silver Age does not always equal better. :o

Dude, they havta make the spiderman the one who ultimately deals with Norman Osborn. Having Tony Stark do it would just be wrong, and let's be honest, who really wants to see that? I think what everybody wants to see is Spider-man finally stepping up to a major challenge of this caliber, and this is the perfect oppurtunity for that to happen. If marvel doesn't make that happen then they're just absolutely stupid. Thats like having lex luthor becoming king of the world and having batman be the one to defeat him, thats not right. Spiderman NEEDS to be the one who stops this guy.
