^ Yes, apparently.

People want an brainy Transformers film that improves from what the original was in terms of intelligence?
Seriously, If you guys are expecting a better screenplay stop kidding yourselves. It's a fun film that brings out the kid in us with mindless fun and action done in the best way possible. The Bay way!
'89 wasn't quite as "intelligent"/"deep" as BB, sorry. I like '89, but it just isn't the same kind of movie. But even Batman '89 was for the kids but it is as intelligent as Begins is...
Why not this movie then?
Again, you just got your hopes up WAY to high for something you should have seen coming for miles away. I dont enjoy Micheal Bay movies that much, but I love Transformers, and didn't expect much from him. When I found out that he was producing, I didn't think it was going to be something "amazing", and I actually came out the theater surprised that it was on par with what I remember Transformers being as a kid(ie. stupid, fun, action, comedy).Well, my initial response to your post was not intended to "jump on you" in any way -- just to point out that the action FX parts that made Transformers entertaining made up a small part of the movie compared to all the other stuff that I saw as being weak.
Your following responses of "good god!", "I swear", and ultimately calling me a 5-year old shows that you seem to be more passionate about about defending TF 2007 than I am about criticizing it. That's totally fine of course.
As we both can agree, we'll just have to wait and see what we get this July.
It's really lame that people use the excuse " It's supposed to be a fun action- c.g. fest summer blockbuster, don't expect good writing!" Why lower your own standards and expectations when you go see a movie? There are excellent writers and directors out there that can come up with good dialogue and plots for action-ficiton, Bay and his team are just not capable of doing this. I think the reason most of us come to the transformers thread and "badmouth it" is because we do like the transformers, and we know what kind of movies these could have been. What if the Shumaker batman movies had come out before the 89 batman? I bet people would be saying the same thing, "It's kid stuff! It's supposed to be cheesy and over the top, what do you want, the Godfather?!"
Maybe you're standards and expectations are too high. Did that ever occur to you?
When it comes to movies, for me, as long as there are hot chicks, cool cars and stuff being blown up than I'm happy.t:
The superbowl spot for TRANSFORMERS blew me away...
Also, the tone looks considerably darker...
Very serious and morbid alien film...
Hell when Shia shouted, "Just go!!" ... I didn't laugh and I think that is a plus...
Also, the camera seems pulled a bio back this time... LE GASP!
All good, lets hope Bay comes through...
Don't worry, Spider-Man hates you too.I hate Spider-Man.![]()
Did you actually think Bay was going to have an "air-tight" script with loads of backstory and amazing character dialogue? I'm not "defending" TF 2007 as an amazing movie, but one in which if you're that upset about it, then you should've had as much common sense to see it coming before you even saw it. Same goes with the sequel, and AGAIN, with your initial question.
When I say, "good god" or "I swear", it is more implying of your lack of common sense, to acknowledge that a mediocre action-director is taking the helm of Transformers, which if I had to put my money on it, would mean that the acting will be semi good and the action will be everywhere. Which is basically what we got, and we'll get again.
Also, I hated 'The Incredibles' and liked FF. I guess that makes me a little strange.t:
