Is it possible to have a pirates of the Caribbean movie without Johnny Depp?

It's pretty obvious Johnny is getting over it and to be honest I don't like him as much as I did a few years ago but I still think theres potential in the pirates of the Caribbean franchise (I mean, zombie sharks wow)

My first thought was Robert Downey Jnr but I think that's too predictable

The reboot might be less successful but the movies will probably still pull in 750-900 m globally quite easily.

It's tricky because it's such a part of Depp especially his personal life. Heck he's been dressing up like Sparrow, with the necklaces and such, and an aging rock roadie, for the past 15 years.

It's like how the public is so attached to Downey as Tony Stark that a recast would be dumb at this point.

I only saw the first 2 and didn't care for them at all never understood the love that even the first one got cant say about after 2 sinces I only saw the first 2.

Without Jack Sparrow the franchise would be 'Young Blacksmiths of the Caribbean' or 'Governor's Spoiled Daughters of the Caribbean'. No one would want to watch that **** when you can already see it in every average historical drama. Give me pirates, not family dramas.

The Pirates series lost it's appeal and quality the moment it became about Sparrow's character.
That's why each movie is worst then the last, and that is why it has everything to fail in the long run...or not so long.

Only way they could continue it without Jack Sparrow is if they manage to create another character just as compelling and just as appealing to the masses.
