I'm watching this thing on CNN about how 40% of couples cohabitate instead of getting married. Is marriage going the way of the dinosaurs?

It is getting more rare, but it won't ever be "extinct."

When wedding places are starting like, "No more business, oh no." I'll say yes.

to be honest i rather cohabitat too, as long theres no open relationship BS involved, maybe a civil union.

When I said "go the way of the dinosaurs" I didn't mean gone.
Do you think it will ever become the minority?

Eh, I guess it's possible. I don't think it would happen worldwide. But maybe in certain states, or countries, or nudist colonies.

Good news. Marriage is overrated. Ain't nothing but an official document. :down

I doubt I'll marry...I just never liked it and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me (but I am young so when I'm older I imagine I'll reconsider).

However it will never go away...

Divorce declining, but so is marriage

The U.S. divorce rate is 17.7 per 1,000 married women, down from 22.6 in 1980. The marriage rate is also on a steady decline: a 50% drop since 1970 from 76.5 per 1,000 unmarried women to 39.9, says the report, whose calculations are based on an internationally used measurement.

God hates you now ShadowBoxing...But Jesus is still love.

I'm happily married and can honestly say it is to date the happiest day of my life. If you would have asked me when I was younger (18-23), I'd told you no way I was getting tied down.

Marriages’ declining is a good thing, probably means couples are taking it a little more seriously and not rushing into it.

I plan on marrying.

A woman, no less.

...Blind_fury?

I don't have to pay for my nookie, and I'm not black.

But a lot of men don't like the idea of that level of comitment and they don't want to lose half of their things.

The first part was a good post, why did you have to go off and lie in the second half?

That's what pre-nups are for.

Besides, if the couple wanted to be with each other for the rest of their lives, I don't get why they'd *need* to marry. Like I said before, it's nothing but a document. Can't they just live together and leave it at that?
