There's just something with Richard White...can't quite put my finger on it. I just finished reading Issue 4 of Superman Returns comics, featuring Lois Lane's story. The guy just seems to come into play, a bit too convenient. I'm thinking there is more than meets the eye...maybe the REAL Richard Whit died in a plane crash...and this new Richard White is none other than STAR MAN!!! No, just kidding, maybe this Richard White is really Brainiac or Dark Seid in disguise!!! Now wouldn't that be an interesting TWIST!!! And that would explain why the kid has powers...NOT because he is Superman's son, but because he is an EVIL experiment created by Dark Seid or Brainiac...

Plus, that would be the PERFECT way for Supes to end up with LOIS and no baggage...to have Richard become EVIL and have the KID to be some type of experiment that dies...

Ties up all the loose ends!!!

Um no, why are you wasting space on this board?

There is just something about him...he comes across TOO GOOD to be true...and if you would have read the PREQUEL COMIC...you'd know that he essentially pops out of nowwhere...a bit too contrived. Also, contrary to what most people think, and what Superman assumes...there has been no FACT to truly say that Jason is Superman's son...thus, it opens to the door to conjecture, that perhaps Jason is NOT Superman's son...that Jason is either EVIL himself, OR part of an EVIL experiment...and will grow to become someone that Superman will have to fight!!!

I felt the same way too . Thier something about him that doesn't seem right .

oy, we've finally hit stage over-analyze. everyone buckle up, it's gonna be one annoying ride.

Well Maybe Richard is Bizzaro and Jason is an improved version of Bizzaro

Who knows...any speculation at this point is possible. I agree that they never said the kid was Supermans.....Superman just assumed it. I think this is one thing they definately left open for a sequel.

Maybe he is Richard Black............Just kidding.

^ I have those sunglasses (the Oakley Juliets), except the lenses are a different color.

I've said the same things. James Mardsen has played a super character before & he wasn't cast as Lois' love interest for nothing.

Darkseid? No that's a stretch.

Brainiac or some other villian? Maybe.

Blue Wolf, you forget the fact (FACT) that richard is Perry White's nefew. That pretty much dispells all your theories.

However... wouldn't it be an interesting twist, if Richard slowly became more and more jealouse of Superman, and eventually became metallo (or a version of metallo) driven by the love for a woman both he and superman love. His jealousy would drive him to try and becomes superman's equal, while in the process, losing his humanity all together.

What happened is that the Dark Phoenix's power was destroying Cyclops but what was left of Jean Grey's true love for him protected him by pushing Scott Summers into another dimension to be reborn and live as Richard White.

One day, the Phoenix will rise again and cross over the multiverse and have a truely epic cat-fight with Lois Lane over her husband the likes of which we haven't seen since Dallas.

When the fight hits its climax as Lois and the Phoenix/Jean are down to their underwear, slapping and scratching at each other inside a routinely placed water fountain, Lois will cry out and her son will come to her aid and destroy the Phoenix by hitting her with a piano.

I don't think Richard came off that jealous in Superman Returns, he seemed to understand the whole situation and afterall Singer needed SOMEONE to be the second "father figure" to Jason or some of the plot of Returns wouldn't even work for those that go into the movie without being spoiled. Richard was just a character that helped Return move along.. I don't see him being a major character in the future.

no richard wasn't jealouse in SR, I was talking about a sequel. I think that'd be a logical route to take. Watch Richard slowly descend into a jealouse depression, to the point where he goes insane, becomes a terminator, and tries to kill superman, after loosing all of his humanity (and loosing lois in the process).

I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to do a Harry Osborn-type story arc. But personally, I don't have any real interest in seeing his character again.

yeah, that's what I mean, a friend that becomes a foe. But when you put it that way, I don't like the idea much either.

But that idea is much better than Rich being some random alien in disguise. That my friend is the dumbest idea ever.

richard white is richard white.

everyone just stop... seriously.
