Isn't pornography just a form of legalized prostitution?

I never really fully understood the logic here.
It's illegal for people to have sex for money, unless it's done on film.

Presumably it is safer being a porn star then a ****e, there is regular testing, presumably no pimps, about 20 people on set if things get out of hand...

Yet in the end, it's the same thing; people who can't figure out anything better to do then sell themselves.

And it's becoming even more like prostitution, whereas it used to be mostly production companies that tried to put together something like a real movie, but with sex in it, now a days a lot of the content is amateurish.

I think a lot of what is happening is a lot of dirty old, rich men basically found a loophole in the system. They are overall nasty, undesirable people who'd under normal circumstances solicit prostitutes.

But in order to bypass the legal risk, they get whatever porno license necessary and make pornos with handheld video cameras, set up a site, and actually make their money back!!! :wow:

Same thing but it suits capitalism better I suppose?

Funny thing is, I bet most porn performers would take offence to being compared to prostitutes.

Anyways, whats your two cents on this?

I could make a long post and still say the same thing.

People getting paid to have sex: prostitution.

It is actually illegal to film pornography in a lot of states due to sodomy laws.

Is this mean to be some sort of profound realisation? It's an obvious yes.

In fact you could probably go down to your local red light district, grab a hooker, take her back to your place and as long as you screwed her in front of a camera you'd get away with saying you were making a porno and the cops couldn't touch you.

Doubt it, you ever seen the amount of times **** and ****e is used in porn titles?

Wht film it? Just call it a rehearsal.

That won't work with police though and neither would simply filming it with your camcorder. If you are caught with known prostitutes they will suspect that's what you were doing and if you are engaged in a sex act, cameras or not, you will go to jail.

Besides, I think you need licenses and permits to film a movie and don't be surprised if some cop hauls you in for not having them.

Wow I guess ignorance really is bliss....

Well folks, your all wrong as pornography is vastly different then prostitution. Try doing something called research on both topics before making a broad genraliztion of both "professions" to compare the two.

Prostitution = person paying another person for sex

Porn = 2 ppl getting paid to have sex

Prostitution = person paying another person for sex

Porn = 2 ppl getting paid to have sex

So actually, someone is just paying for one male prostitute and one female prostitute and simply opting to watch and film instead of participate.

That's voyeurism not prostitution.

It's not a profound realization, just a curious thing imo.

As for the sodomy law thing, weren't they systematically invalidated at some point? They were pretty ridiculous to begin with, outlawing a bj should be a crime in and of itself.

Pardon the irrelevant nature of my post, but it isn't like everything else posted here is poignant.

Well K.B. , explain the big difference. I doubt it's really that staggering.

Makes me wonder why they don't legalize it.

You also have to remembever:

Prostitutes= Fugly.

Porno chicks= [Usually] Hott.

True, I was doing night shift in a shady area, and I'd get the most disgusting creatures coming in paying in *** stained coins. (not really, but it sounded good.)

Yet that isn't entirely true, I'm pretty sure the escort service ones must be half decent, then again if they are bombshells, why risk it on the street, porn seems more logical.

If one was to think about it enough,it is. But what can you do? It's like Prohibition, make it illegal..people will still do it. So why bother?

I've never heard of someone trying to bury a Penthouse after it accidentally died of erotic asphixiation.

You wouldn't see a prostitute in a porn movie. It's technically a different profession.
If you ask me they are all ****es.

Yes, it's just legalized prostitution, but done in a way that's incredibly boring and not really all that enjoyable for all parties. In prostitution, you never really have to wait for 3 hours outside on a freezing cold night in nothing but a trench coat waiting for some guy to get the lights set up, and your co-stars viagra to kick in.

It is hypocrisy though. First off, selling is legal, and f**king is legal. So why isn't selling f**king legal? It's illegal if you pay a woman to have sex with you, but if you were to then film that sex, and sell it for a profit, it's all legal? My point isnt that we should ban porn, it's that we should legalize ****ing :o

It seems to be working out really well in Nevada.

Meh, I have a very good imagination so I don't need to shell out money to see naked men. Porn means nothing to me.

Who cares?

You obviously do because you replied to my post. :oldrazz: I have still to see anyone prove to me porn in a vital thing. I don't understand its appeaql at all. Why do people pay for sex when there are free alternatives everywhere, like...getting a girlfriend/boyfriend?

Hahaha, what gives the original poster the right to judge? If you enjoy sex, why not get payed for it? I fail to see where the problem is. Obviously problems come in if there are irresponsible porno producers that prey on young girls that don't know what they're getting into. But if the girl knows what she's doing, the regulations are in place like regular STD check ups, and the producers are responsible and accountable, there is no problem.

It comes down to this. Adults can do whatever the hell they like in the bedroom as long as nobody is getting hurt.

You obviously haven't put much thought into it.

Hint: If you're not a girl and you're not hot, it's actually kinda hard to get sex the free way. Unless you're a rapist.

Because its a free country and people can waste their money on whatever frivolous things they'd like?

I don't need comic books. Or a trip to an amusement park. Or vibrating panties.

I don't think anyone ever claimed that porn was 'vital.' 90% of the things we buy aren't 'vital.'

If porn ain't your thing, don't buy porn. You don't have to understand why people like it for it to be relevant.

Also, how does replying with 'who cares' indicate that I, in fact, care about whether or not porn is legalized prostitution?
