Superman Returns It's a bird It's a plane It's a... belt buckle?!

I bet if it's gonna change to the SR costume it only stays that way for less than a year...I hope. :(

The SR suit sucked and should in no way be part of the comic canon...

nah... it was great. Waaaay better than the reeve suit. The logo could be a little bigger and the boots a slight bit longer besides that...It was a great update. If you recall reeve wore his belt up to the helm man. Made it look like he's wearing a diaper. The suit was too bright, and the yellow symbol on the back is corny to me. Superman, actually as I said before, needs an entire overhaul. No and I don't mean electricity man either. I mean he needs a cool update kinda like this...maybe...

considering what they wanted to do with it, it does take away fom it, because there were similar design out there that were much better design wise...

if you compare Jim Lee's work to this new guy, I'll take Lee's version any day of the week.
Is that a fact? I don't see it.

Looks like the Returns suit is slowly made into comic canon. Just like Donner's crystal Krypton was and the most funny thing is yet to come, Donner is soon co-writting Action comics. Ahhh wonderful times for the lovers of the movies.
anyone have any idea where the light source would be in this pic?

Nothing personal CM...but what the hell are you smoking?!?!

Those would make a cool Elseworlds, but in continuity...whoa.

As for the Reeve suit...the red tights might have been a bit high, but in the comic they have been fine...plus a larger symbol always looks better IMO because Supes IS bigger in the books. Jim Lee and Terry McGuiness (not to mention the Turner versions) are all the best representations of what the costume should be in the comics...IMHO...

THey shouldn't try to fix something that isn't broken.

yeah you guys are fans for real. That's why the movie ended up sucking cause You guys aloud Singer to be your sponser. His whole take from the start should have been noticed.

Anyway that's why I like the superior Batman character and his world. we are cool with change. Batman's suit has gone through change in every movie. I mean EVERY movie and even in the cartoons AND the comics. he is currently the best character DC has. Superman fell off cause he got boring and the same every single time. He has the same story over and over again. gosh it gets old. The costume DOES need change. maybe I'm high on my stuff but man does he need change. I have been hurt about Returns. i grew up with that character. he represented a lot to me when I was a kid. I actually didn't care for Batman whatsoever back then, but through out the years. Batman grew as I did. His whole world, deaths and rebirths. Hell even someone elso became Batman for a while. They tried it with death and Return of Superman, but the only coolest thing I ever saw after Supes returned was that black suit he reappeared in. If only they stuck with that. man!!! That suit was dope. The red blue and yellow got old and I only used those colors cause someone would have had a heart attack. Love Superman as a character in general but I also hate him as much too.

I can't stop lovin him, but he's like a girl who keeps getting fat but you don't really realize it cause you've been with her for ages, and when people try and change her to be phisically more appealing and healthy, you're like...HELL NO THAT'S MY GIRL. Really. Superman got unhealthy.

There's a saying that if you keep doing the same thing you'll keep getting the same results. That's why Superman has stayed stagnant since reeve. Smallville had to change things cause it would have flopped if it was the same old same old. Some changes are bad, but aren't most of these idiot fan boys the same guys who hated on the suit and now embrace the hell out of that movie???? Anyway i rest my case. Superman is DEAD!!!!! The box office showed it.

if you like Batman so damn much, get the hell out of here and go to the Batman boards and leave the Superman fans alone...

we don't go over there and bother you, do we?

Batman is second rate to me. Superman has something to him that Batman could never touch.

Unfortunately. As much as I love the classic Superman suit... The underwear is getting a bit old. Superman is stuck in the 70s.

Unfortunately, because of disgruntled fans, Superman will probably be stuck in the same suit and the same story for as long as he's around.

Wait, wait, wait. You're telling me Adam Kubert draws a slightly different version of the Superman costume than what's generally accepted?

Jeez, no one's tried that since...the last artist who drew Superman.

Yellow \S/ on the cape should be kept. I hate the \S/ on the belt.

From the art that was posted, it appears that Kubert is keeping the "S" on the cape. I wonder if he's going to add all those "S" shields on the bottom of the boot and have Superman stomp them into someone's forehead. :supes:

Sometimes crap is just crap and rubbish is just rubbish. I think most people can agree that catwoman was crap. Even the general public who have no real preconceptions about the character. We don't want faithful adaptations, we want inspiration that exceeds the original material.
You're not getting the point here. The audience can be fickle. There are times when things that seem like bad ideas actually turn out good and times when good ideas are executed poorly. You don't really know until it's out and you gauge people's reaction to it.

The s-buckle is flat out stupid and totally unneeded. Or maybe it's for when Superman catches the ladies, and they're not lookin' at his chest, but his crotch. THEN they see the buckle and go: "OH it's SUPERMAN!" :-P That's how they identify who it is. Everyone else will see the S on his chest and see who who he is.

1)Superman having more than one S-shield on his suit redundant....like no one knows who he is from behind.
2)Artists having adding and taking away on the iconic characters they draw for years....examples include Mcfarlane's Spider-man, Jim Lee's Superman, Turner's Batman, Miller's Batman

Heh Heh. That one made me laugh out loud.

Well Kurburt liked the SR suit. It's a good thing most other artists (e.g. Superman artist Carlos Pacheco) aren't following his trend. Let's hope the few SR influences fade away from the comics as quickly as the box office dropped for SR.

see that's because I like Batman AND Superman. I actually anticipated Superman more because Batman was a given and it was straight forward great casting and great director who hadn't dissapointed before. I knew Batman was gonna be good, but how good? that was all I cared for, plus it hadn't been 20 years yet.

Superman had something riding against it so it made the build even more for me to see if it would proove me wrong. I hated the cast, the costume, the composer, the director attached to it and the overwhelming budget. So yeah there was a lot of anticipation and when the teaser hit I was interested but bored at the same time so it was a love hate relationship. Those are always the toughest to deal with and so that is why i am on this board. To knock some sense into some of you groupie riders who I HONESTLY do not think really loved the movie.

It's like when you beg your mom for a new game and I mean BEG!!!! you can't wait till christmas, you finally get it and find out it's SUPERMAN nintendo 64 kinda bad. what do you say when momma asks "how's the game junior" Of course to not dissapoint her but most of all to cover up the dissapointment in your own right, you play the whole " It's good, I love it, mom!!!!" game, Yet only knowing you would KILL for a better one.

Look guys I'm sorry for attackin' supes, I love the guy but It's like religion...Whe everything is goin good, God is GREAT in our lives, but when you start hearing about the trials and tribulations and the fact that God DOES kill...you start trippin out and loosing faith. You get annoyed at what you believed in. I feel your pain guys, but I can't stand by and let Singer think It was a good movie. WE need to start scaring directors with our reviews and let them know the reality of thier work. That's the only way we can get EXACTLY what we need and not necessarily what we want. Batman Begins is not what I wanted, but it delivered what I needed, and what the series needed.

what with the un proportion???? hey I did this REAL quick knowing it's only gonna go on this board. I was bored and hey... The point is the costume.

It's just a design. The logo is not to know who it is man... The logo is for fashion alone. It does nothing for the character. If he war all black he would still be the same guy. The \S/ just looks cool. So he updated and did the belt too cause it brings more life to the suit and looks like he actually took time in looking good. Rather than just slappin **** on. Reeve suit looked very sloppy indeed. Infact I would love him to go back the the yellow part being black logo. it was cool lookin'

no, it doesn't look cool...

you only need it in one place... his chest. Everhywhere else is unnecessary

Yes it does look cool, his old up to the belly button look is foolish and That's the ONE thing Singer got right. He gave The washed up boring character an update, but forgot that the movie was more than just givin a cool suit. The suit was great and It may be the only reason why The world even went to watch it. It dang sure ain't the actors or the director or the waisted $200 mill dollars.
