Really, 20 years since the whack to the knee that was heard around the globe. Damn, time sure does fly by, I remember being just a kid when the Nancy Kerrigan, Tonya Harding and Oksana Bauiil fiasco occurred.

I was in college, and I remember this becoming a hot topic in my psychology/sociology classes.

I also remember Kerrigan causing a small controversy later on by saying something along the lines of her silver medal performance being "worthy of a gold medal".

Later on, I remember cracking up at Lord Steven Regal (a pro wrestler with a snooty English gimmick) saying something like, "Nancy Kerrigan, if you truly deserved a gold medal, you'd have one around your neck, wouldn't you?" That was harsh....and brilliant.

I personally think and always hae thought that Kerrigan should have won the gold. She outjumped Oksana Baiul and could have handled being an Olympic Champ much better. Oksana got the gold mostly out of sympathy I believe.

Did she? I thought Kerrigan doubled her first triple in the long program, and Oksana actually added another jump at the end, I think another double axel, but in the end, I think it was artistic merit that was looked at, not technical. But, I do agree, Oksana had a tendency to two foot her landings, and the judges often just looked past it because of her artistry.

Oh well, there are quite a few skaters I would have loved to see on the golden podium at the Olympics, but it was just never meant to be. I loved Nicole Bobek, but she was often in the shadow of Michelle Kwan (who I love to pieces, but she tends to be a bit stiff sometimes) and it would have been nice to see Sasha Cohen up there too, but like I said, it wasn't meant to be.
