It's Clobbering Time! The Ben Grimm/ Thing moments we want to see in the MCU

I hope they retcon Thing to be nearly as strong as Hulk, but remain smarter just like in the comics
I prefer Hulk being stronger when enraged but Ben being calmer and using that and smarts to even it up to an extent. Ben and current Smart Hulk would probably just chill and get takeout lol.

She-Hulk has been a replacement member of the Fantastic Four on occasion, so this would be an appropriate place for an Easter egg.

Yeah, I kind of like the idea that Hulk, Ben, Thor, Hercules, Black Bolt, Sub Mariner etc. are all very strong and roughly on a par with one another, and we shouldn’t really know who’s stronger than who, but when Hulk gets mad, he gets stronger than all the others.

I think too often writers and fans try to categorize and rank different characters and that takes a lot of the fun out of it.

They’re not competing head to head in organized, quantifiable feats of strength, so no one knows.

And just because one character beats another in a fight on one day, that doesn’t mean they’re stronger. Things other than pure strength come into play.

A much as i want Plemons to get the role,

i wouldn’t be upset if my #2 choice got the role. Apparently on marvelstudiosspoilers via 4chan

Seth might in fact be Grimm.

#3 is Segel

^ of those 3 (not that they are the only 3 options) I'd stick with Segel

but, in all honesty (even with Segel as one of my fancast) I'm kinda hoping we get a completely original an unexpected pick for Ben/Thing (that has not been fancast or rumored before) not saying it has to be some unknown... but, one of those castings that just make you say "I never would have thought of that, but, now I can't unsee it"

true i love when they nail it. Case in point: Kelsey Grammer as Beast, the country singer who played Whistler in Blade

What do yall think of Michael Cudlitz as Ben? Saw it on a reddit F4 fancast and i can see it

I think Ben is very tough to cast, but also extremely important.

I’m not in love with any of those three, but of those three, the one under the spoiler tag would be my favorite.

I picture a young Bruce Willis as being what I’m looking for, and none of the names I’m seeing have that old-school tough-guy who grew up on the mean-streets element.

They all seem like they are too soft and would have gotten chewed up and spit out by Yancy Street.

Remember Ben was a leader of a street gang.

I have trouble imagining Plemons or Segel… or the other guy as gang leaders.

If they get John Krasinski back for 616 Reed Richards, how about an Office reunion with David Denman as Ben Grimm?

normally i would say no, but that is a good look for him and he looks Grimmesque plus he also has Jewish ancestry

I'm not on the Seth Rogen train.

Now I'm just throwing it out there, how about Zac Efron?
A good-looking and muscular Ben destined to become ugly, but strong, when he transforms to The Thing. Can it work?

Even though Ben will likely be cgi, Efron is too small for the role imo.

Yeah. Zack Efron maybe in great shape but he's not very big. In the case of Michael Chiklis who also wasn't very tall, he at least had the voice and "old school" grit. Efron doesn't feel right for that role imo.

I could see Plemons...kinda. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel does away with the "street gang" thing
I agree. I'm not sure when Ben was established as having been in a street gang. However, I suspect it was supposed imply more of a West Side Story type background (the kind Jack Kirby might have seen in his youth) and not the kind of organized crime associated with gangs today. He could have a troubled youth with some juvenile delinquency in his backstory, but an actual gang activity sounds less likely.

Jamie Bell isn't very big either

Before Ben Grimm is the Thing he's typically portrayed as a pretty imposing and tough guy. Played college football, protected Reed when they were in school, fought in the military. Jaime bell was scrawny and Zac Efron is pretty short neither really sell his defining attributes and not even to mention his iconic gruff voice.

And I'm pretty much the originator of the Jesse Plemmons hype around here and he's still my first pick. If they skew older then I'd go Joel Edgerton.
