It was most probably the 90's cartoon. Always loved Peter's characterization in that show. Excellent voice work. When I read a comic, I hear his voice, and sort of Yelchin's voice to an extent.
What about The Spectactular Spider-Man?The 90's series was my favorite by far. Peter Parker is displayed perfectly in every way. He's nerdy, kind and has the best one liners for all the villains. What was missing from Raimi's Spider-Man was his wit, they tried it here and there but it was never that believable. I hope they use his intellect in this movie a bit more.
When I found out about being cast in Spider-Man, it was like this bubble developed around me. I was floating in it for a while. And then, suddenly, it evaporated, and I was like, Well, Im just an actor. I dont get to actually be Spider-Man.
GARFIELD: Yeah. I think its going to be a little bit more complicated than what I imagined. And, of course, Im going to feel a great pressure, which might be one of Peter Parkers great struggles, in having to live up to this thing that he is supposed to be or symbolizes. It will be interesting. I think the more I can tie into my own reality, the better and more enriching it will be for everyone involved.
GARFIELD: Well, I do just want to be an actor. The thing I get out of it is actually doing the job and inhabiting the world and the roleand I mean that genuinely. Thats what Im in it for. If I can keep losing myselfand finding parts of myselfin other peoples writing and direction, then thats all I can really ask for. Thats all I want, to keep losing myself.

& then there's a full interview with him on the website. Here's some stuff he said about being cast as Spidey:
& then the rest of the stuff he said about playing Spider-Man, the interview was along with director Gilliam.
GILLIAM: Itll be interesting to see how the reality of playing that character compares with the fantasy that you had when you were younger.
GILLIAM: Its interesting, because playing Spider-Man is different from playing most parts. Its a role youve fantasized about for a very long time, and, generally speaking, when youre offered a part in a movie, you havent thought about it in that way before.
