I pleaded his case since the first time I heard about the shortlist and I couldn't be happier unless Michael Angarano had been cast. Both he and Garfield pour so much heart into their characters, though granted I think Angarano is the better actor simply because I've seen more stuff from him but I've loved Garfield ever since I saw Boy A and I've been keeping an eye on him.

I have no problem. He looks good for the part and is a talented young actor. The man is good enough for Terry Gilliam, so who am I to b****?:hehe:

I suppose I am not unhappy… I am not really personally familiar with his work himself, so, I can really judge in that regard (tho, I hear good things) I’ve only heard of him from fan casting and from the rumored lists… at the time I only didn’t pay much attention to him as he seemed to old for a high school set movie… so, once I heard they where changing it to be set in collage, I don’t really see any problem with it

I'm really starting to warm up too Andrew Garfield as Peter, I just hope they set the film in college instead of high school.

I'm not sure, I might be happy though. Sure i'm bitter over no more Tobey but Andrew Garfield looks like he may be able to pull Spidey off. He is also somewhat unknown to me which is a plus. So Maybe I am happy....yes....I think I'm happy (i'd be happier with Toby and Sam Raimi one more time though :p) Its alot better than the some of the other casting rumors that were going around...

I've never even heard of him so I cant comment.

I liked Lions For Lamps but if they changed the setting to College then I can get behind this guy

He looks like a massive nerd. So that alone makes me think they might have a clue. He does look too old for high school. Maybe this will move the movie out of HS and into college.

Am I happy with the casting of Andrew Garfield? YES. I am... It could've truely went to ****! Emagine Zac Efron as spidey!???? I would've killed my self first!

It seems that the problem many have with Andrew, isn't really about Andrew him self. It's more that he's what, 26 years old??? And surpposedly playing a 16 year old...

I think he can easily pull off the part. He certainly LOOKS the part more than Maguire did. I always really liked Maguire, so it isn't personal. But I think Garfield will make a killer Spiderman/Peter Parker! I always loved him in "Lions for Lambs". If you haven't seen that movie, you should. He's GREAT in it!

Judging by the poll, the tide seems to be turning. Most people seem to be pleased with his casting.

People either didn't notice him, not familiar with his work, or didn't like him at first glance for some odd reason. He had NO fan support whatsoever, and people on here were mostly against it. Difference now? He got cast :p HA HA I was on board before most of you fools :D

If it was meant in jest, then I apologize. I was actually trying to do you a favor by warning you that you could get in trouble for that.

Capice?

Yes, Hobby is a mod, and a personal friend of mine, too. Don't worry, his bark is worse than his bite :cwink:

Well I know most of us will are happy for the casting of Andrew. Wish him the best as he brings Spidey back on screen.

I can't say anything about him jumps out at me as "Peter Parker". But I've never seen him in anything and really have no idea what to expect of him.

I will take him over Josh Hutcherson, who just annoyed the hell out of me just by the look of him.

I personally always liked Tobey Maguire and think rebooting so soon and covering such similar material is a bad idea, so I'm not excited about any of this until we get more casting and plot info. I am curious to see what kind of supporting cast it will have.

I don't really know much of him as an actor, but visually he reminds me of Ditko's Spider-man. I hope they don't encourage him to pack on a bunch of muscle. He should be toned, but he'd be perfect as the wiry slim Spider-man that Ditko drew and other later artists emulated.

Mostly I just hope for a good script and good film making. We'll see what happens.

Guys, please refrain from the bickering. If there is a problem, contact a mod. We get oh so lonely when we arent infracting people.

One day you'll see how bad my bite is, Joker. :cmad:

Ha ha everybody was against him before.

Yes everyone was when the story was to be in High School. Now that we know that the story is college, then Andrew is a really good choice.

I couldn't be happier that they chose an actor who resembles ditko's peter parker most as I think dikto is spidey's best ever artist. for the people that say the best spidey artists are the romitas, fine, you have your opinion and I have mine.

I'd say he looks more like Romita Sr. and Mike Wieringo's Peter as Mark Miller observed.

Visually, I think Garfield is terrific. Acting wise, I dunno as I've never seen him act before.

Rent Boy A and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. He's in Lions for Lambs. I'm sure he's fine in it but I'm sure you don't want a pompous preachfest for two hours so skip that one. Boy A is coming tomorrow for me so I'll report back with my thoughts on him. But as far as I'm concerned with him, he has my full support.
