Chris reeves absolutely nails the superhero/civilian persona in superman the movie in the scene where he is going to reveal his secret ID to lois. My gosh, he turns into a completely different person when he stands up straight and deepens his voice and changes back again by slouching and making his voice higher. I never got the sense of Peter changing his personality. I love raimi's Spidey but he could have done that aspect (Peter/Spidey) better.

Absolutely. Reeves was awesome. The way he differentiated himself, just great. He had foresight.

Well Neil, that comes down to poor direction and poor writing and an even poorer sense of vision.

sam made the spidey movies were all about peter, with in mind maybe sam wasn't bothered about a different persona because his movies were focused on the man in the suit, that's the reason that sam ripped off the mask at every oppertunity.

look at kick ass - essentially the same guy in and out of costume
daredevil - same guy
wolverine - DEFINATELY the same guy

in fact what superhero movies does the hero completely change personality in costume.

best examples;
the mask - totally different person in costume
superman

I understand it's the same person. But when you make the person behind the same reclusive nerd all the way through, it's grating to no end.

The 1960s cartoon did it best. Even the Spec Spider-Man cartoon had it, Parker then Spider-Man, Parker then Spider-Man. You knew which was which. Same guy, but you knew the difference.

You have good points throughout the threads spider neil.

We're not expecting Peter to radically change and be a completely different person. What we or at least I expect is to see what I've been seeing in the comics and that is a guy who emancipates himself from the constraints of his civilian life and uses his spider-man persona to convey the release of his inhibitions as peter parker.

Look at Billy the blue ranger from the original MMPR, he was a through and through ***** but after Jason would shout, "it's morphin' time!" Billy didn't change into a radically different person but he conveyed confidence, assuredness and a power and strength that he wouldn't ordinarily expose as just plain old billy, resident nerd of angel grove high.

^Indeed!

Absolutely. Absolutely. Someone sees the light.

Hmmm, I don't have a problem with Bales bat voice and I only identify it as potentially unnecessary when listening/watching Keaton as batman but even then, I think the issue surrounding Bale's bat voice is nit-picking but that's just me.
Eh, I have to disagree. I mean, you can be threatening without sounding like a monster.

But isn't that what Nolan's batman is trying to be. Bruce has conveyed mainly in BB that he wants the villains to share his dread, to strike fear in their hears and in order to that, he wants to become something elemental. A beast, a monster, a creature fits such a description. Anyone can be threatening. The police officers in both movies have been portrayed to be threatening to some degree, that idiot in TDK didn't even feel threatened by batman when batman gestured he was going to push him off that ledge because he knew he wasn't going to die from that height but for batman, he has to be more than threatening, more than intimidating whether its by actions or his vocal pattern, a combination of the 2 clearly works, which is what led to the events of TDK in the 1st place.

I can't believe I agree with a post using the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as an analogy. :o

Andrew Garfield has worried that he will fail to live up to expectations in the long-awaited Spider-Man reboot.

The Social Network star, who is currently filming Marc Webb's gritty reimagining alongside Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans, shared his fear that he will disappoint both himself and comic book fans with his portrayal of Peter Parker.

He assured Virgin Media: "I'm very, very excited and nervous and 'Spider-Man' - I'm working hard to make sure I don't mess it up - physically, mentally, emotionally.

"It means as much to me as it does to everyone else. I can objectively look at myself and be like, 'You better not screw this up man. I'm going to be so p*ssed off with you if you do'."

...and that's a good thing. At least we know he's taking such an undertaking seriously as opposed to just picking up a cheque.

And God bless him for being such a fan and aware and conscious of the fact he's not just doing this for just "another gig" but for all Spider-Man fans and moviegoers alike. What foresight and humbleness and awareness.

Just like Tobey Maguire:whatever:

Let's not do the typical fan thing and turn against the people we used to enjoy.

Although I never liked Tobey :p

tobey and 'the dunst' started off humble and then turned into a couple of *****es

tobey had just had his first child and a interviewer was asking how his wife and child were doing and he kept saying 'I'm here to answer questions about spider-man 3' and kept repeating that despite the interviewer's questions until she dropped it and just went back to SM3 questions. *****e.

I remember an interview with 'the dunst' and she says (paraphrashing) 'the audience are here to see tobey and I'. *****e.
funny I go to the movies to see spider-man, she must have meant someone else.

Though I don't like Tobey as an actor, I don's see why he was being *****ey when he asked the interviewer to stick to the movie he was there to promote instead of asking about his personal life.

it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.
answering the question would have cost him nothing.
tobey - 'they're fine'

Excellent. Glad to see he's taking it seriously. I'm really looking forward to seeing Garfield in this role.

Exactly, sounds like the interviewer was trying to initiate genuine rapport before getting into the nitty gritty of the subject matter. Well, Tobey can relax now, I doubt any interviewer will bother him about his family as the guy is no longer of any significant importance in the public eye.

Eh, I think the celebrities have every right to be "*****ey" when their personal life is brought up- whoever the interviewer is.

It was a simple, normal and warm question, "how's your family"?

No need for that kind of response Tobey gave unless the interviewer was being a complete tool prior.

Like I said, I completely justifiy them, even if the interviewer isn't a tool. A question is almost never "warm" or sincere coming from a journalist.

We've seen some of our best actors who act the same way, and they don't get chewed out for it. We just say, "well, they don't like answering inane questions", which most of them don't. I remember Daniel Craig gave a similar two word response about some personal question he was asked.
