Yeah probably about his bulge and the speedos thing which got old very quickly, I can understand that but if an interviewer you've never met before asks how you are and how the family is at the start, just to get things rolling, there's no need to be a pri** about it, doesn't matter which actor it is. Besides, didn't Tobey recently have a child around that time? so it's only a natural question. Anyway, it doesn't matter, Maguire isn't important and he's no longer involved with spider-man, thank Christ.

I don't blame tobey for that. If I wanted someone to know about my personal life, I would tell them. Just because your a celebrity doesn't mean everyone needs to know what happens behind closed doors.

interviewer - "How's the family"

Maguire - "Oh noes dey try to invade mah personals!"

It's none of the interviewer's business. It's his job, sure, but not his business.

C'mon, its not like the interviewer was trying to cajole Tobey's innermost family private and personal secrets here - it was just a simple, common courtesy (formality?) in which a person asks if the other persons family are ok. Nothing more.

Manners would suggest that a simple 'they're fine' response would have sufficed without the requirement for elaboration - there was certainly no need to be so abrupt. Anyone who adopts an attitude like that shows a lack of common basic civility and is a total dick in my book because, quite frankly, manners cost absolutely nothing and there's really no need for a person to act like that.

Ergo, if a person does act like that without the requirement to do so, they are a dick.

The interviewer is there for a purpose, to do his job, to inform the public about the actor's new movie. Anything more than that is just unnecessary, even if it's done with the purest intentions.

Ergo, the interviewee has every right to lead the conversation back on track- and Tobey did it in a very professional way, saying he was there to talk about the movie. Nothing dickish there.

I think we're simply going to have to agree to disagree on this one. You've stated your view, I've stated mine and I dont think either one of us is going to change the others mind on this.

It was a simple, normal and warm question, "how's your family"?

No need for that kind of response Tobey gave unless the interviewer was being a complete tool prior.

it was pathetic and basically shows what type of a character he is.
I could understand it if the interviewer had said 'so tobey, where does your wife work?' but the question was how his wife the new addition to his family were doing.

It's not like he trashed Tobey's scene, eh?

Exactly

I know I'd be less inclined to talk about my family to a complete stranger.

Hell, if I were asked that same question, no matter how politely, my answer would probably be the exact same thing.

I don't think the interviewer expected:

Q: how's the family?

A: well we're relieved there wasn't a miscarrage because her grandmother had three. but my wife won't talk to me know because I told her I'm the breadwinner so she has to do more housework. she's the jealous type, you know? I caught her checking my text the other day. I'm really afraid she's going to keep that baby weight. The mother in law is really riding me about spending so much time at work instead of with the baby but...

Exactly, all he had to say was: "Oh, they're fine, thank you." It's common courtesy. And yeah, people do ask how you're doing when you're working. Happens all the time. He was a *****e. But anyway, it really is inconsequential.

Agreed.

So back to ANDREW GARFIELD as Spidey as the Thread specifies, not the interview diaries of Tobey Maguire....

Its funny cause your the one who brought Tobey up anyways.

Yeah, I would imagine he would be brought up in this thread, but this issue got out of hand, no? Not to mention I didn't go on and on and on an on about his interview edicate (grossly misspelled lol)

Ha! It's so weird for me to hear him with his British accent since it's the first time I hear him like that. Nice interview though.

I liked how Tobey sent him a message of his support. That was really cool.

So I guess he's filmed scenes with Leary and Stone. Awesome.
