Knowing that **** Tobey, Andrew will probably wind up with warts on his schmeckle if he reads the supportive message backwards.

I hope Tobey didn't try to give Andrew advice as to how to play Parker.

"Take Dopey and Bashful from the seven dwarfs and combine them into a single entity. That's the true Peter Parker".

Good thing Tobey didn't write this movie like he did SM1-3.

Yeah I'm sure somewhere in the script it says:

SCENE ONE -

(Parker has stupid, lethargic expression)

SCENE TWO -

(Parker grins like he secretly crapped himself)

The script tells a characters mood and dialogue. But it's the actor decision to convey those moods and dialogue like Forest Gump on zoloft.

I am in no way a Tobey fan and didn't like him as Parker at all, but to be fair, a lot of what you're describing was likely Raimi's direction - he's always had that over-the-top, often cartoonish style.

Hurm...Garfield may be in his late 20's but he can definitely pass for a teenager. Kewl.

Sincere compliments from Tobey. It's good that he wishes Andrew well

Yeah, but you're conveniently forgetting several things:

Its also the director's job to direct the actors - to tell them how he wants them to portray the characters and handle the scenes.

It is the director and editor's job to choose which takes to use when cutting the movie. A cut here, a take there, can completely change the mood, context, and even the personality of a character in a scene.

SO, if you feel like bashing people for the character's portrayal, do the just thing and realize there are others to bash for it as well.

As for me, I enjoyed Tobey's performance overall, but yes, I do agree that the characterization should have been rethought some.

Posted this because one he talks about spider-man and two, this was taken back in october and he seems to look in pretty good shape.
nice find. i have yet to see any of his acting (i know, i know), but just from listening/reading his interviews, he seems like a really nice guy. I just wish he'd actually talk about the movie itself instead of the gushing "its such an honor" rabble he keeps repeating in every interview.

He's probably not able to speak about the movie yet. I don't think Emma Stone has said much about the actual content of the movie yet either.

Andrew Garfield shed a tear when he first saw himself in the Spidey suit?

Yeah, what a miscast.

I like that. It tells me that he will take the role seriously because it means so much to him. He's invested in it.

And good on Tobey for the support. He's not such a bad guy.

Yeah, I know, but surely there is more to say than "I'm so honored". Even if its something about what his workout regiment is, or how he's liking the wirework training. Something, ya know?

There's not much you can say this early. How many times have we heard Nolan say "grand scale" in every interview?

Again my only gripe is thsat hes way too tall to play :spidey: This is highschool Pete not adult

Uh, as someone who just got out of highschool not even 6 months ago, his height doesnt change anything. Just because he's in HS doesnt mean he has to be small. I knew people who were much, much taller than him in Highschool.

Just about every high school student portrayed in a movie have been played by big people, adults. :wow:
