He was actually in fairly good shape by the time that Spider-Man 4 would have filmed.
That has no bearing on how he looked in Spider-Man 2 and 3, which ultimately ended up being his last films.

I, for one, am glad we're getting a skinny Spider-Man.

Instead of another chunkster like Tobey Maguire.

And I agree. Iam not saying he shoudn't be skinny. But he should also have some healthy muscle definition if you will. Maguire's stunt guys always had that thin but athletic build. BtW Maguire was only out of shape in spidey 3 in two and specialy one he was in pretty good shape. I want a lean, slender but still somewhat muscular looking spidey not an emaciated one. just the right balance.

How do you know Garfield isn't toned? So far, we've only seen him in long-sleeved dress shirts and thick coats.

Yea but even if he's toned that alone won't sell it. He should have a bit more mass. We'll see maybe he'll look great. Lets wait and see.

Tobey was accurate to Peter's height in the comics.

He was jacked in SM1 and toned down in bulk because of Seabiscuit in SM2. It's SM3 where you could tell the difference. No one really cared.

And that pic of Tobey of him on that other movie looks great. You can definitely tell the difference in the face. Makes me wish we saw him one last time as Peter.

Tobey was in fair shape for all three. He had a double chin in SM3; yes. But that doesn't make him fat, I mean, even radcliffe has a slight double chin in the potter movie.

Yeah but Radcliffe can take his shirt off and show that he aint no chunky fool.

Tobey did too, not seeing the chunky.

Yep.

It's weird that, around here, if you're not long-limbed and spindly looking, you're automatically the extreme opposite: 'short, stubby, chunky'. :whatever:

No, Tobey was in great shape. He had a Bale-esque 'teh puffy' face moment or two, but he was lean and strong, very built.

I am Severus_Snape, and I endorse this post.

This is Tobey on the set of a movie a couple months back. Doesn't look flabby to me.
Agreed.

spider-man 3, they hid his body.
spider-man 2, they showed him quickly take off his top from far away, which consisted of him stretching out his body.
spider-man 1 was the only film Maguire did where his body was impressive enough to look at and respect as a superhero.

Remving the symbiote in the church and the apartment. So, um....wrong.

spider-man 2, they showed him quickly take off his top from far away, which consisted of him stretching out his body.

Still looked in good shape.

wrong-o

Hahahahaha, what that quick shot of some pasty white abdominal skin ? Okkkkay

:funny: I can screencap it, if you want. :woot::woot:

To the untrained eye, things from afar look good but up close, they're far from good.:o

He still looked great, hell even in the shots where the suit was ripped.

No. That's just my opinion on the matter :whatever:

Just because its your opinion, doesn't make it right. :whatever: :oldrazz:

the topic of Maguire's body was being discussed. I said he didn't look so great in sm3 and the particular scene that was being discussed, Maguire was wearing the symbiot and the so called body shot that was shown, in the midst of the symbiot was a small snap shot of his body which came off as looking pasty and served no purpose as supporting any argument that he was in great shape.

Pasty? Oh I get it now, it's from all that paper mache they used to created the illusion of a 6 pack since Tobey was a hippo.

LOL

I totally agree. A lanky sleek Spider-Man will be cool to see. Especially when you see his strength at play, it should be cool.

Tobey Maguire was never fat but he was short and stocky kind of like Tom Cruise. Not ideal for Spider-man.

Peter is short in the comics though. I wouldn't call Tobery stocky. George Costanza is stocky.

^Peter's official height is 5'10 in the comics that's not necessarily "short"
