For me, X1, X2 and Days of Future Past are a perfect X-Men trilogy, with First Class as a prelude, and Apocalypse as an unnecessary but fun big blow out at the end.

For me, Apocalypse hits above First Class.

First Class was half a masterpiece then the last act really hurt that film. Shaw's motivation was idiotic, the whole Cuban Missile concept was asinine and Xavier should have handled the entire situation on the beach all by himself. Why didn't he simply put Riptide, FakeAngel and Azazel to sleep and send everyone in to the sub with Erik?

I give X-men and Apocalypse pretty much the same ranking. They both have things the other doesn't. Ultimately the smarter story and Magneto's motivations in X1 edge out Apocalypse, despite really liking the character moments, powers, teamwork, and lack of Wolverine in Apocalypse.
