Action-Adventure 'Jack Reacher' series in development for Amazon

I didn't know what he said about MCU movies until you mentioned it. I don't disagree with what he said, but it's weird that he complains about "no stakes" and heroes feeling too "invincible" and then he does something like Jack Reacher. As you said, and I know little about the character, he's basically a superhero anyway. A pretty invincible one at that

Yeah, haha. Reacher is basically superhuman and does stuff that would get normal people killed. And he also played Aquaman and Raphael (TMNT)… I’m not sure there were many “stakes” when playing those superhero characters. It’s also funny that he directly referenced Endgame, a film in which 2 (or 3 if you count Gamora) major Marvel heroes died.

Yeah I’ll definitely be checking this out this weekend. Glad to see that the reviews have been mostly positive.

I have never read the books either and have only seen the Tom Cruise movies, but I loved this from beginning to end and man Alan Ritchison was born to play this kind of role.

Such a better use of talent than anything he was given in Titans and the dude just has the physicality on top of the charisma to elevate the material and make the Jack Reacher character really likable.

He's a beast and the violence in this show reminded me a lot of the graphic, over the top stuff in Banshee, but its not gratuitous at all and this had a surprisingly strong supporting cast as well.

Even my boy Guillermo got his moments to shine and I'm just glad to see the guy getting more work outside of What We Do in the Shadows even if he's somewhat playing the same character from that show.

My wife and I actually just binged watched Banshee in a week and finished it a couple days ago and this show definitely has the same vibes minus the softcore porn Banshee sometimes turned into. On ep 5 of this and we’re both loving it, which is surprising because I thought it wouldn’t be that good based on the trailer.

saw the last ep this morning after watching the others last night. see this is how to adapt a book into visual media, it works better as a maxi series than a 2hr movie. i really hope the other books get adapted to other seasons in the future.

Yea from what I’ve read it’s pretty faithful to the book and I read a quote from the author talking praise about the detective and female officer being better characters than he had written, which what any adaptation should strive to achieve. I hope they can keep it up for future seasons and I hope HBO can do the same with Harry Potter.

Into episode 2 and loving it so far; Ritchson really seems to have a handle on this character. Also; a Kristen Kreuk sighting! Glad to see she didn’t end up like Clark’s other semi-love interest on Smallville, lol.

Have seen the first 3 Episodes so far and i Do like it.
But i dont really get whats the Big Deal about the Character itself.
Can anybody fill me in why people like Jack reacher so much?
He seems like a rather typical Good guy Bad ass.
Not that i have a Problem with this, but is there more to it or "just" The whole good guy kicks ass thing?

Having just watched the first few episodes, I have to say that Tom Cruise should never go near this role again. Ritchson owns this. And for the record, I liked the first Cruise movie. But I don’t think I could take Cruise serious in the role anymore.

There was more than one Reacher film with Cruise? The sequel must've completely flew under my radar.

The one thing that I think works better in the Cruise films is that I find it easier to believe that people would constantly pick fights with him because he’s a normal sized guy. When you see people try and start **** with a guy the size of Ritchson, you just say to yourself, “Do these idiots have a death wish?” :funny: Still, this show is awesome and it’s a lot of fun watching Reacher break guys to pieces.

Enjoying it so far. One good thing about the episodic format is they can spend the whole season on one book. Granted if this was a network TV series, they'd do it in about one or two episodes. Or a movie would have to do it in two hours. So this appears to be the ideal format for the Reacher novels.

I like Alan Ritchson's performance. Dude looks like a big dumb meathead jock, but he's probably like Rhodes Scholar level.

Up to episode 5 and it is good. Subverts one of the annoying tropes I dislike in this episode too.

Ritchson is so much more Reacher than Cruise ever was too.

Some of the violence is graphic but it's not gratuitous.

Finished season 1. It was pretty entertaining and the perfect amount of episodes. It didn’t drag too long. It was also nice seeing Kristin Kreuk again (and in a pretty substantial role). Looking forward to season 2.

The only parts to me where this kind of started to drag is when they started hopping to other states and parts of the country.
I was shocked to see Kristin Kreuk in this show as well. Was wondering what she's been up to since Beauty and the Beast. She did a good job in a fairly thankless supporting role. Like she totally sold the character and was very genuine, but I would've expected her to be in a Roscoe-level role if not higher.

Imagine a 5'7 150 pound Guy: "Hey hank, you see this 6'5 dude who looks like he crushes Coconuts with his bare hands for fun?" "Yeah, why?" "Lets **** him up, we can definitly take him."
XD

Finished it yesterday, and it was pretty great i have to say.
Glad that they renewed it already...lets go.
